Canyon Lakes Residential Treatment Center was founded with a dedication to the exclusive treatment of children and adolescents. The need for such a facility was recognized by a group of local professionals who dedicated not only their talents and resources, but also their continuous energies to make Canyon Lakes Residential Treatment Center a reality in October 1987. These dedicated individuals today comprise the Board of Directors for Canyon Lakes.
Prior to the opening of the Canyon Lakes facility, no treatment center of its kind was available within 100 miles of the Lubbock area. Therefore, it was necessary to refer children to facilities across the state. This long distance factor presented a conflict to an important component of the desired and effective treatment that is family involvement. Today, Canyon Lakes Residential Treatment Center is an independently owned, professionally managed facility with 24 long-term beds and 12 short-term beds. Canyon Lakes is fully accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations and licensed by the Texas Department of Protective and Regulatory Services.
