A Chinatown-style restaurant inside the Loop 7/21/2005

A telling fact about Canton Seafood is that every time we go here, there are a sizeable number of Chinese people eating here, which is not the case for virtually any other inside-the-loop Chinese restaurant. My favorite dish here is the _pipa dou fu_, a delicious tofu dish, braised stir-fried and served with a delicate sauce. Their fresh seafood is excellent, but a bit pricey. for authentic food, but in a crappy atmosphere, this is the most outrageously priced chinese place ever!! at these prices, i would expect an upscale environment! the only thing it has going for them is the authentic food, but the prices will scare you away. if you want to save money and you want the real thing- just stick to chinatown! This place used to be the best Chinese Seafood place in town. Now its just a front to sell overpriced ""fresh"" crab and fish at Market Price. Don't fall for it. Everytime we go there we get the hard sell to order the ""special,"" which really means why don't you order a $70 crab. Now, it a big crab, don't get me wrong, but it's not a $70 crab. We always just order the regular food from the menu, but lately the quality has gone downhill. In addition, our last few visits have been without the benefit of air condition. Skip this overpriced place and go to some of the other excellent asian restaurants. Pros: fish tanks Cons: Overpriced Crab, No A/C, Dirty more

pretty good asian seafood 1/1/2003

We got the Australian Crab dish at $90 - I was expecting to be blown away but was very underwhelmed! But all in all their seafood is decent if a little overpriced.. you can get seafood like this in Chinatown for much cheaper.. Pros: decent chinese food, good seafood Cons: overpriced more
