Canlis Glass 8/17/2011

I am the manager at Canlis Glass Gallery + Studio, where the artwork is beautiful and the owner's are great. I'm not just saying this because they are my bosses. I truly do enjoy working at Canlis Glass. :) J.P.'s vision for art through the medium of glass is amazing to see it come to life. Being an artist myself, I can appreciate the time, effort, creativity and pure workmanship of his. Also the fact that he has turned his love of surfing and being on the water into a career that stimulates both is adventurous and creative side is wonderful to see. If you're in the Belltown area or visiting the Space Needle come drop by the gallery and talk to us. Maybe you'll even get to see J.P. working on some glass! more

Great art, great space 8/13/2011

Canlis Glass Gallery is a great glass gallery located in the corner of Belltown, the perfect way to round out a day of art! My boyfriend and I swung by Canlis after spending the afternoon in the Olympic Sculpture Park (just down the block!) and ended up staying a long time admiring the beautiful glass pieces and conversing with the staff. Not only did we see a large collection of art by the one artist showcased there (JP Canlis), but we also learned about the process of glass art making, and even got a peak into the studio in back! Small drawback, on a student's budget, the art was a bit out of our price range, but we were in no way forced out the door or looked down upon for it. It was a great gallery experience, and I promise everyone will find a piece there that speaks to them! His ocean and nature themes are created to look inspiring and reflective, not cheap or tourist-y. Best part, Boat St. Cafe right next door solved our dinner problem. Next time I'm in Belltown, I'll definitely be stopping in to see new pieces! more
