I am a previous employee of this location (Tampa Airport). My time there was for the most part enjoyed, and I simply adored working with the incredible dogs that went to camp from day to day and interacting with fellow dog lovers. Things like separate play yards and their daily schedule helps to keep things organized in an atmosphere that can get chaotic easily. Not to mention, they offer cool perks like membership programs and webcams! They do their best to hire enthusiastic dog lovers and hard-working people, though some might not have professional experience. I do wish they had more training on dog handling and behavior, as you will face the occasional scuffle, fearful, timid or aggressive dog and if you don't know what to do or how to react, injuries can happen. I can truly say that their senior staff (Alyssa, Erik, Matt...) are simply incredible and are dedicated to not only the dogs, but to the customers and to the company as well. I can't speak for the newer staff as I did not work with them, but I'm sure that they are just the same, since as a general rule, I’ve found that dog people are good people. In fact, I'm so confident in the staff that I even brought my dog to Camp Bow Wow after I stopped working there. However, I walked in today to be informed that I was no longer allowed to bring my dog to camp. The reason I was given was that he was too rambunctious (which I know is false, as staff would have informed me and warned me of any ill behavior from my pup after previous visits and prior to this morning). I politely assume that the reason was, in fact, because I recently wrote a review after a day of camp last week, from a clients’ perspective (which I now am….or was), where I expressed my love for my happy and tired pup at the end of the day but was concerned that I did not see him on the webcams for a long period of time (over an hour) and I didn't see staff in the yard for a short period while there were dogs playing. There was no spite or mal-intent on writing the review as I was at that point, a satisfied but slightly concerned, paying client and giving my honest review after my dog’s day there (BTW, This was prompted by an e-mail requesting a review, and a recommendation on how to make my experience better). Even now, I'm flabbergasted I can no longer take my boy to play because they weren't performing their job up the standards they promised me AS A CLIENT. Not to mention, my poor pup was devastated he couldn’t play today. He was whining and crying and pulling towards the door to the play yards, only for me to have to drag him back to the car. I have no problem NEVER taking my dog back to play after at the Tampa Airport location, as the owner miraculously succeeded in not only influencing me to leave as an employee but as a paying client as well. Instead of banning me, my dog and my money from the facility, I might suggest fixing minor problems like having the appropriate amount of staff in the play yards and keeping to the schedule you advertise. I also recommend putting up new fencing and other basic improvements that almost every other Camp Bow Wow franchise in the United States (over 200 facilities) has so that dogs can run and play in the yards without the risk of getting cuts and scratches. I’m disappointed that I am no longer going to have any form of relationship with this daycare as there were rumors of big changes (such as new fencing and facility upgrades) that are supposed to be happening in the immediate future and I would have enjoyed watching the growth, should those changes be more than just talk. I hope both for the existing and future staff and clientele that the owner will do what is needed for Camp Bow Wow Tampa Airport to be the safe, reliable, and affordable daycare it has the potential to be. Unfortunately, it seems they’ve hit a bit of a rough patch and it definitely shows… more

Editorial review from Citysearch 1/26/2013

Avoid this place. I boarded my lovely dog here overnight last week, and she ended up in surgery due to their pervasively inadequate practices. First, their maintenance is unacceptable. My dog tore herself open three, yes three, times on their poorly maintained chain link fence when she was put in with a group of aggressive dogs bigger than her. (employees tell me it is being replaced in two months. Whoopee!) Two of the injuries were deep and required stiches. a silver dollar sized hole was opened in her coat, One puncture was so deep it almost went all the way through the muscle to the thorax. Secondly, their monitoring is inadequate. Nobody there saw the injuries happen, and they didn't even notice them when they changed my dog to a group of smaller dogs, too late. Eventually the hole in the coat became apparent, even to them. Third, their attention to instructions is not acceptable. I always provide an extra day of food just in case some event interferes with my picking the dog up on time, such as a cancelled flight. So this group ignored instructions on how much to feed and gave the dog 2 days of food in one day. Ordinarily not the worst problem, except that surgery had to be delayed because of too much food in the system (asphyxiation risk while under anesthesia). Lastly, the response was uncaring. I have yet to hear from the owner asking how the dog is! Indeed, since I picked the dog up, nobody there has called me. In the two conversations I had, when I picked the dog up and once when I called to tell them what the vet said had occurred, both employees told me early in the conversation the owner wanted me to know they wouldn't necessarily pay for the vet, but might ""work something out"". For the record, I did not ask for their money and will not take their money. i want to be free to tell you the truth. But I thought it disgusting that they initiated 2 conversations on how they wouldn't stand behind their responsibilities, while not calling me to see how my lovely dog is recovering. Incidentally, Camp Bow Wow is a franchise operation, and my dog is a continuing client at another excellent location that just didn't happen to be convenient to flights from Tampa Airport. more

We love Camp Bow Wow 2/21/2012

We love Camp Bow Wow and you will too. Bear has been going to Camp Bow Wow for almost a year now. I started taking Bear to camp a couple years ago. After several different Camps, Bear seems to be the happiest going to Camp Bow Wow. He can?t get out of the car fast enough when we arrive. I love the web cam which allows me to see Bear having a blast throughout the day. I also like the convenient hours they offer. It?s nice that boarding includes day care which is usually an up charge at other places. The staff is always pleasant. I have nothing but great things to say about Camp Bow Wow. If you haven?t taken you dog to Camp Bow Wow, try them out. First day of camp is free. You won?t be disappointed. more

Dog Gone Good Time 2/11/2012

My dog has been going to Camp Bow Wow for a little over a year. I started taking her to camp when she was a puppy. She loves it! It gives me peace of mind to know that she is so happy there. The staff is really friendly and they give my dog tons of love and attention. I highly recommend Camp Bow Wow for daycare! more

Sidney goes to Camp Bow Wow often! We have to keep it a secret that she is going there until we're ready to walk out the door because when we tell her she's going to ""Camp Bow Wow"" she runs circles around the house and jumps and whines until she gets to the play area. Our family members even watch her on the web cam! Something about spying on your dog and seeing their tendencies while you're away is entertaining! She's also stayed many nights at Camp Bow Wow. They know her so well that they even remind us to bring her bowls because she won't eat out of their's (she's such a diva!). We've left her anywhere from 1 night to 5 nights and she's always well taken care of and ready to go back! The difference between Camp Bow Wow and many of the other boarding/daycare places in the area is that your price includes all day play. Some of the other places had me feeling guilty like I wasn't buying enough time in the playard for her. She does not like to be locked up while she hears everyone else having fun! I would 100% reccommend Camp Bow Wow! Hopefully you won't end up like us using secret words to disguise what we're talking about in front of our dog to avoid an all out frenzy of excitement when we're not actually going there at the moment... more

amazing staff 12/16/2011

My dog has been visiting for 3 years. He loves it. The counselors are amazing and the buddy cam allows great peace of mind. Offers affordable prices and various discount. Highly recommend! more

Poor service. 11/4/2011

I only can pray they treat their dogs better than their customers. Terrible terrible service. A person there named Beth wouldn't honor the promotion I had bought because her opinion of how it was read was different. What ever happened to putting the customer first? A very big waste of my time. I don't make much money and was happy to buy the promotion and try out a new place for my dog, that I cherish, to play when I was away. I have put in about an hour of driving time to go out of my way to do the orientation day already and I'm really disappointed in the disrespect I received from the management (Beth). Customer service is in a sad state when the management's ego comes before the customers. In Beth's mind she may be right, but because of her stubborness over something so petty and asinine your company has definately lost my business and anyone that I may talk to about it in my network. more

A great place for our dog; peace of mind for us... 3/31/2011

We recently moved to the Tampa area and needed a place to board our dog for a trip. We had been frequent users of our local Camp Bow Wow back in our previous state, so it was great to be able to bring our dog to the Tampa location, already ""knowing"" how CBW operates. What's more, the staff was able to call our previous CBW and transfer over our dog's immunization records and also waive our new dog interview at this location, based on the referral of our previous CBW. It saved us a lot of time and hassle to have things switch over so seamlessly. In addition, we love that this CBW offers 10% discount on overnight boarding if a 10-night stay is purchased (all 10 nights don't have to be used at once; they will keep tally of how many nights have been used up until all 10 nights have been reached). Every little bit helps and we'll easily use up 10 nights of boarding before long. The only reason I give this location 4 stars is due to its distance from my house (half hour at minimum). That being said, however, it is very convenient to Tampa international Airport, which makes it super easy to drop off our dog when we go out of town by plane. We look forward to more stays at this CBW! more

Doggy Daycare Heaven 3/28/2011

Nothing but nice things to say about Camp Bow wow. I have recommended Camp Bow Wow to all of my fellow dog owner friends (and even strangers at local dog parks). The staff is very friendly and accommodating. My dog started off as an extremely shy rescue dog and has become a social butterfly through the help of socializing at Camp Bow Wow. more

5 Stars 3/25/2011

My dog loves going to Camp Bow Wow, she knows it from when we are driving up. They have convenient hours and the dogs get plenty of play time and constant supervision. All of the staff there is wonderful! more

4 Barks for Bow Wow! 3/22/2011

I have a 7 month old Boxer/Pit mix and we love Camp Bow Wow! From the first day we started camp, the staff has been so helpful and understanding. Norman is like a son to me, and I had never used a doggie daycare service before so I was very nervous. The first day he went I called three times to check on him! We've been using them for about a month now and he has stayed overnight once. As soon as we get closer, Norman knows where he is and can't wait to jump out of the car! Also, the price is very reasonable compared to what we have seen in the area. Definitely check it out! more

Happy Camper 3/20/2011

I love that Scooter gets super excited on the way to Camp Bow Wow. He always greets the counselors with a wag to his tail and a ""grin"" on his face. The counselors share some funny story about Scooter's stay just about every time he stays. He is a goofy dog and does silly things that entertain me daily. I appreciate that his other humans are entertained by him as well and notice his silly nature. For Scooter, there is just no better place to spend his time....except maybe his couch at home! more

2 Paws Up From Molly and Julia 3/14/2011

I have 2 boxers and they can't wait to get out of the car when they know we are at Camp Bow Wow. The staff is very caring and easy to work with. I like being able to see the dogs on Camper Cam when I travel. After a ""Ruff"" day of play they snuggle up for a good nights sleep...dreaming of their doggie friends. more

My dog loves it! 3/14/2011

I take my Boston Terrier to Camp Bow Wow every time she needs to release a little energy. I love that I can watch her play via the webcams! She always comes home tired and I know that she had a great time there. I would highly recommend Camp Bow Wow! more

Awesome experience! 3/14/2011

My girls love attending Camp Bow Wow Tampa. They have stayed for both day camp and boarding and really seem to enjoy their stay. The girls are watched really well. There is always a staff member in the group to supervise the play. This is important to me as my smallest dog is only 5 pounds. My girls are super excited as soon as we pull up to Bow Wow. They just can't wait to get inside! I love being able to watch the girls play over the web cams. more

Top-notch ongoing experience! 3/14/2011

I've been bringing my dog to Camp Bow Wow for both daycare (1 to 2 times a week) and overnights for a couple years now, practically since they opened. They are hands-down the best in the area. The staff is wonderful and there has never been a time when my dog wasn't greeted with genuine enthusiasm. Often, as I'm leaving, I can hear the staff chatting away to my dog as if he was their own. It always makes me smile to know how valued his is there. more

Not bad but we won't go back 9/13/2010

Our dog stayed at Camp Bow Wow for the first time for a long weekend. The manager was very nice and great at answering our questions. If you want a no frills place to board your dogs, I can see where Bow Wow would be sufficient. However, it was not the right fit for us. more
