Relatively quick, healthy lunch 3/21/2006

This place seems to get very busy for both breakfast and lunch. It is hard to know what line starts and ends where and people can get kind of pushy, as everyone is not only hungry but in a hurry to get to/back to work or class. Still the line moves pretty quickly and the food is pretty filling, and much healthier than fast food. There are enough selections for many different tastes - from fruit, to sandwiches, panini, and pizza, among other things. Be prepared to take your food to go, however, as during these rush times it can be hard to grab a table to eat at before anyone else does. more

Yum 2/19/2006

In Italian Style, these better than regular salads, soups and sandwiches are nice, if not delicious. I've tried four or five different dishes here, and I'd definately go with the Albacore Tuna sandwich (of course, I'm a big albacore fan) or the Caprese salad, or try one of their very filling, very satisfying wraps. I like the wraps best because there's a lot of meat and you can take them and run. Try em, you'll like them. Still, make sure you've got a good ten bucks to spend here- the prices are a little steep (maybe another facet of being European?) for a take-out cafe, but well worth it, if you like higher-end wraps and salad take out. more

Good food 8/26/2005

Before there was a term for it, this spot had already perfected the "fast casual" dining concept. For more than 12 years, Caffe Baci has been serving upscale coffee, paninis, salads, soups, and hot entrees in Chicago's Loop without the wait that would accompany comparable sit-down restaurants. Executive Chef Jimmy Hamili offers Italian cooking from his native Rome and has been turning out new specials and old standbys, like the JoJo panini (mozzarella, artichokes, basil, prosciutto, tomatoes and herbs) almost since the beginning of Baci's reign. The bright-yet-minimalist setting acts like a serene refuge from the office both at lunchtime and after work when dinner entrees are hot and inviting. more
