Worst

Hostess told us 20 min..waited an hour. Not the end of the world. Food is pretty good but the service is horrific. Went with three people last saturday night - half way through ...

Not getting the hipster hype 5/18/2006

Maybe hipsters never had Cuban food before Cafe Habana? I initially came here because of the hype and the Lenny Kravitz video. You know, the one where he's looking for the girl who works in a cafe? Anyway...I'm not sure what the hoopla about, other than everyone here is very pretty even when they're trying not to look pretty. Sure, the corn is standout, but you don't have to wait for a table to get that, as they have take out next door. But everything else, like the blackened chicken or the burritos seems no different than what you could get anywhere else. It's not the worst Cuban food I've ever had, but it's not the best either. more

Cafe con Leche the Way it is supposed to be 3/7/2006

Things you should not miss while in Nolita - Trust Fund Baby, gelato shops & Cafe Habana (and its take out spot on Elizabeth). Get a nice hot cafe con leche and just let it trickle down your throat, warming your whole body up. I crave the chicken in mole sauce and the grilled corn (topped with cheese & butter, sure to get your arteries clogged). Waits can be long as it is a small corner spot. If you need food NOW, walk up Elizabeth Street and order your food to eat at the take out corner, on the bench outside or at your cute little Soho apartment. more

Great Little Cuban Restaurant 8/10/2005

Tucked away in the corners of New York City this restaurant is full of good food. As the name implies the restaurant serves cuban cuisine. The food was amazingly perfect and scrumptious. Probably best known for its grilled corn topped with cheese and such. It left me wanting for more. The enchiladas and beans were a great combination. Speaking for a person who does not eat beans, I ate up the beans and cleaned up my plate leaving my friend speechless. I'm not sure what it was but the sauce was delicious. The only downside to this restaurant were the crowds and limitation of space but definitely worth to try. Must order the grill corn!!! more

great little cuban shop. 8/9/2005

I love this place, it's a little shop .. there's actually 2 shops, one for take out and one for eating in. I actually love eating their Cuban sandwiches .. they also serve a lot of great food like the Corn on the Cob with some sort of cheese on it. They have different types of drinks and i think Lenny Kravits once filmed his video here. I think it's a wonderful place to eat. more
