Tasty TexMex Breakfast 6/29/2010

I love TexMex. I love breakfast. While you can usually find me at my favourite roach coach or standing in line at the taqueria on the weekends, when guests come in town, I try to class it up a bit. My signature is to introduce everyone to the michelada. So when my Yankee friend detoured on his move from the Carolinas to Vegas to see me ... I was on a mission to find a not-so-scary-to-the-Yankees Tex Mex breakfast complete with a michelada. I'd seen the signs for Cadillac's breakfast but the time I'd been previously for happy hour many moons ago, I thought it was pretty cheesy. It seems Cadillac has classed up their act. It's like an upscale Chili's but definitely better cuisine. At noon it was sparse and we had an overly friendly and pretty attentive waiter. The michelada's served in a huge, frost, goblet that's almost a little embarrassing to drink from. The portions on ginormous and the food is was exactly the intro I was looking for for my friends' visit. Pros: micheladas, clean, parking Cons: generic more

Formula restaurant w/Mexican theme 1/31/2010

I ordered a Cadillac salad, which was ample in portion size, but it was iceberg lettuce, 4 slices of tomatoes, and 4 slices of avocado. Period. End of sentence. BORING. The service was good, but the place is loud, so don't come looking for a quiet, romantic dinner. Very casual dress. I look for the little features that make a restaurant unique, but I didn't find it here -- at all. I have been trying to contact the banquet coordinator, but her voice mail is not set up, she only works Monday through Friday, she doesn't come in until 10 a.m., etc. If it's this difficult to get ahold of her, if there is a problem or issue that needs to be addressed, how easy will she be to get ahold of? I'm going elsewhere. Pros: Ample parking Cons: Boring food more

Greasy Food 12/23/2008

All I can say I requested no butter or oil, unless they had to place some on the grill to be able to cook it. My fajitas were drenched in oil and I told the waiter about it, and just said that's the way they come....need I say more! I will never return! Pros: Parking Cons: Service, Food, & Prices for the Food more

Excellent service and tasty mexican food 11/18/2008

Excellent service! Last night we dined at Cadillac's and I experienced great service which is hard to find these days. Our waiter suggested the Chicken Enchilada's to me and they were very good. The portions were just right and our basket of chips never became less than half full. The salsa with the chips was good, not great. It could use a bit more spice to it. My co-workers enhaled their quesadillas and the taco salad seemed to be quite good but was finished prior to me asking for a bite. I am sure we will all go back. I wish there was more information about this business online. more

Best Place for a rehearsal dinner 10/7/2008

I just had my rehearsal dinner at Cadillac Bar in the West End and it was perfect! The banquet manger was so great to give us exactly what we wanted right down to the table cloths. We got to customize our menu and everything! The prices where what sold us because everyone else had a minimum or a room charge. The best part about it was that after words we all took fun pictures in the beautiful West End. This place was great and stress free. I highly recommend it! Pros: Price, staff, location, food Cons: parking more

Carnitas as Tender as Wood 6/27/2008

I've been to the CB twice, with over a year separating the two visits. First time was before Landry's took them over, second time after, but before they ""sanitized"" the place. In my experiences there, the place had problems even before the takeover. Pros: Close to the 10 Freeway Cons: Cookinng staff more

Taken over by corporate America 6/24/2008

Yes, we too tried the Cadillac Bar to see how it fared after being taken over by the Landry's restaurant group. Well they cleaned up the walls, added cloth tablecloths, put better uniforms on the waiters, raised the prices, and paved the parking lot. But they took out the ambiance, the fun of being at a classic funky place, and turned it into corporate mexican food. Too bad. It's boring and bland. I'll go to a Pappas next time. Pros: Parking lot Cons: Ambiance, fun atmosphere more

No longer a special place for your rite of passage 6/19/2008

My son turned 21 last weekend and we raved to him about the CB and the salsa girls and the noise and the writing on the walls. When we arrived, we were shocked to see that the place was trying to emulate a boring Mexican Cafe. Boo Hoo! What a disappointment! The place was empty on a Friday night. Does anyone know of another place that might work for future rites of passage? I won't be back again and I am going to spread the word. Why would someone ruin such a great Houston tradition and adult hang out? There are so many other boring Mexican cafes for those who didnot like the raunchiness, but nothing will replace the old CB and the fun times we had in the past. Pros: Parking Cons: Threw away it's uniqueness for bland and boring more

The Re-Bitten Chips 6/14/2008

My wife and I ate at this place 3 times. The third time was our final time, and here's why. You are familiar with the chips the smiling waiters bring to your table in Mexician restaurants aren't you? Well, this time the chips were apparently bitten into and wet with salsa from the previous diners. It was incredible to reach in the chip basket and pull out a chip wet with salsa, and bitten into. Thanks amigo's we'll chew our own food. I don't recommend this restaurant at all. more

I WANT CRASS 6/13/2008

For Christ Sakes! Where is the cultural experience? You never try to refine a CRASS thing! They dried up all the fun and the food is not worth it! Bring back the Tequila Girl - or just make it your usual local dining spot for a quick bite! Boring! Do not waste your time! Go Downtown!!!!!! Pros: It's The Cadillac Bar Cons: Boring! more

Impressed with new look and food 5/11/2008

The new improved interior refresh is new to me because the last time I was there they had grafitti everywhere and an intentionally dirty interior. Since Tillman (Landry's restaurant chain) took over he cleaned up the inside, added artwork, booths, and even white tablecloths! In my opinion he improved the menu, taste, and the portions. Its not quite up to Pappacitos level, but it's better than average. I was pleasantly happy with the attentive service (Oscar), the quality of the drinks and even the police officer patrolled paved parking lot. Pros: Tex Mex Food, value, new decor Cons: Limited menu, mostly Tex Mex more

Best quesadillas in town 1/17/2008

My husband and I went on a Tuesday night my 2nd or 3rd time there his first, of course I went to the old Cadillac Bar with the writing on the walls, but we found the new one to be just as fun and the food was great. Our server was a buddy holly lookalike and just as musical. All in All we had a wonderful time and will go back as soon as possible. more

AMAZING Newly renovated!! 11/11/2007

For those who have not been in awhile, You need to go again, very soon!! The loud, crazy atmoshpere has been replaced. All the graffiti is gone! They made a few changes to the menu and I hear a terrific wine list is on the way! They added some cozy booths and completely remodeled! It's definately not the same Cadillac Bar! Pros: Totally New and Completely different Cons: Absolutely NONE!! more

Do NOT dine here 11/4/2007

Sure their drinks are good and it may be a fun pre-party place but the food and service is lousy. Saw a rodent when I went to the restroom. Management was not existent. Friends of ours had a large flying insect drop in their plate while dining. (The review found the correct name for the insect inappropriate - for obvious reasons) Many reasons we will never return. BTW: If you have a complaint and try to call the Landry's Corp. office, do not expect a call back! They apparently do not care whether or not you enjoy their restaurants! more

Average Mexican Food- Graffiti Atmosphere 10/14/2007

The food here is about average for Mexican restaurants. My food had little flavor, the cheese bland. My friend's fajitas not nearly as good as Pappasittos. The service was good but we came during a slow time and the place was almost empty. Personally I do not like all the scribbling and graffiti literally EVERYWHERE. It makes the place look trashy and like some 20's something drunken hangout. The nicely dressed waiters somehow seem out of place with nothing but trash scribbled all over the walls, chairs, tables, bathrooms and anywhere else childish kids can find. Pros: Cant really think of any Cons: trashy graffiti atmosphere, average bland food more

The new and improved!!! 8/8/2007

I don't know what happened in the past but the Cadillac Bar today is GREAT! I have had an event there and the food and service was wonderful. I didn't have to worry about a thing. As a matter of fact, they were voted the best Sunday brunch in Houston, and now I know why. They have a huge variety of food for all ages and it won't put a whole in your wallet. I was surprised to know that they did such a variety from, BBQ, Italian, seafood to whatever your heart wants, they'll do it. I love it and so does my family. Whoever had a bad experience in the past, I would give Cadillac another chance. Pros: Plenty of Parking!!!!!!!!!! Cons: Sometimes there is a wait more

Class Reunion Bust 8/26/2004

Would not recommend booking their party rooms for banquets/weddings because of poor customer service. We paid $200 for a room and $550 for buffett plus bar tab. They split our room with another party, would not discount the price we paid. We had people coming in and out of our room all night, using our bar, using our dance floor. Could not find a manager all night. Food ran out before everyone was served, we were charged for drinks that were going to the other party. Manager appeared at mid-night and was very defensive and rude. Said she would do nothing for us and we should have said something sooner. We were told the bill was paid and we needed to leave. Called Landry's Corp. twice to complain about service. Phone calls went un-returned. Poor, poor customer service. Will never go back. Pros: Parking Cons: , Rude management, Poor service more

disapointing 11/16/2003

We have tried two different locations and the story is the same Great Bar, Lousy food. The best advice would be to come here for cocktails then eat somewhere else. They try too hard with the menu and replace many of the traditional favorites with exotic creations that can't possibly appeal to many tex mex lovers such as a crabmeat, avacodo, and celry enchalada. yuk! they would do better to leave the ""Cadillac"" off of the name and just call it a BAR Pros: great bar Cons: lousy food more

Great Margaritas... 2/28/2003

This place has makes super great margaritas but I was a bit disappointed in the food. When I went there were alot of bachelorette parties- obviously it's the place to be ....and don't forget you can write on the wall too...just for fun! more

YUM 7/20/2002

Our favorite place for Mexican food...good service, chips, salsa, margaritas, and THE BEST cheese enchiladas! I'm telling you, yummy, gooey real cheese enchiladas. Not that velveeta stuff. We love this place! Pros: cheese enchiladas more
