Cabaret is worth every penny of the cover. It's very rare in Chicago or New York to be able to find a club as intimate as Cabaret with the glamour. High style abounds with a DJ ...

There are many other bars I will opt to go to after experiencing Cabaret. I have never seen so many posers and worse yet- big attitudes. The fact there's no seating at the bar o...

Great club! 10/1/2007

What a club!! Loved it! Had the best b-day party a girl could ask for! more

Just OK... 12/21/2006

I have been to CABARET only once and it was OK. The staff was nice and it was kinda crowded. The music isn't that great, too hip hop for me. No line outside to wait which is good but also a bad sign. No one I know likes to go there so we avoid it. I guess it is not the place to hang in Chi-Town. Pros: Cool Marquee Cons: Not an in crowd hang out more

Rude staff, over priced drinks, nowhere to sit 11/21/2006

This is the biggest rip off in Chicago and it angers me that this place tries to take advantage of tourists coming to Chicago. The staff is extremely rude, there is nowhere to sit unless you buy a bottle of bad champagne for $300 and the drinks otherwise are way over priced. There are so many other great clubs in Chicago, avoid this place at all costs. Cons: too many to list more

Trendy - something for everyone who loves all things GLAM 11/20/2006

This place is a lot of fun - no better way to sum it up. Once you walk in, its the first thing you want to do is say ""What happens here, stays here"". Check it out. more

all around awful experience 11/8/2006

First off let me say that this place is awful. From the attitude outside to the waitstaff inside. Cabaret is nothing but a hoax. My girlfriends and I waited 45 minutes outside to finally pay a $20 cover and walk into an empty room. Why? There is no place to sit, unless you buy a bottle of overpriced alcohol and the wait staff is rude and lazy. They spent most of the evening parading around wearing almost nothing at all, smoking cigarettes and seemed to be bothered when asked where the coat check was. We were hoping that the music would be better than the typical hip-hop cheese fest that was played all night. Anybody care to hear ""gold digger"" 3 times in 2 hours? Some of the worst ""non-dance music"" I've ever heard in a nightclub. Not to mention the management was rude when we asked about the non existant cabaret show that was promoted but never went on. Ladies stay clear of this place, unless you enjoy being treated rudely and paying $9 for a drink. Pros: door staff Cons: rude wait staff & management, way overpriced more

Not worth the hype 9/1/2006

Waited about 30 min to get in, only to pay $20 cover. The fashion show wasn't even a real fashion show. Decor is nice, but that's about all it has going for it. Music was ok and the bouncers act like they are more tough than they actually are. Pros: Decor Cons: cover, service more

Best Bar For Glamour and Scene in the Second City 7/28/2006

Cabaret is worth every penny of the cover. It's very rare in Chicago or New York to be able to find a club as intimate as Cabaret with the glamour. High style abounds with a DJ who knows what to play to keep things hot. Desireability is everywhere from the clientele to the staff. The drink options are endless and for the uncreative, the variety of specialty bars do the hard work for you. Oh, and ladies, Cabaret is not all for men with scantily clad cocktail waitresses. The male bartenders are gorgeous. Excellent eye candy. I will be going here again and again. As Paris Hilton would say ""It's Hot"". Pros: Beautiful People, Wonderful Drinks, Excellent Music Cons: Booths must be reserved for a fee for seating more

This place is awesome, all the time! 7/25/2006

Great spot to hang out at. The music is sick the bartenders are hot, and you will always have a good time? more

Too much attitude 1/16/2006

There are many other bars I will opt to go to after experiencing Cabaret. I have never seen so many posers and worse yet- big attitudes. The fact there's no seating at the bar or anywhere for that matter because you have to pay big bucks for a booth- I will pass. Drinks were expensive and the doormen were extraordinarily rude. $20 cover? Please- this isn't New York. I will not be back. Pros: Nice space Cons: No seating, Too expensive, Too much attitude more

Less than impressive 1/10/2006

Huge disappointment. I was expecting something much better...considering the hype. The staff fell way below Chicago nightlife standards.....especially because the are scantily clad. The should revamp and start over. more

New Years at Caberet: Oh how horrible! 12/31/2005

As a visitor from out of town I was upset at the New Years party I had to pay a crazy price for and then didn't experience wonderfully. Although I thought the staff was great, I didn't like the vibe. The club was small and the cover charge was totally overpriced. Many were couples and it lacked the gusto to ring in the new year! A horrible experience- will never go to again! Dj did not feel the vibe or take requests for better music. Although I enjoyed the bathroom attendent, while dancing I felt a mop at my heals and on my new shoes! more

Editorial

  • With its raucous fiesta of clubby beats and fruity drinks, this Tex-Mex joint is par for the Hubbard Street course. The scarlet and copper hues and flickering lanterns do, however, deliver a distinguishing dose of loungey sophistication. Come nightfall, tourists, leftover nine-to-fivers and pre-partiers fill cushy booths and dark wooden tables, nibbling bottomless chips and warm salsa while perusing a menu of familiar cuisine with occasional unexpected twists such as the Mexican saganaki--a skillet full of tangy panela cheese doused in Mexican brandy and set ablaze tableside. There’s a feast to fit any appetite; those with Texas-sized hunger can tackle an overflowing combo plate, while the diet-conscious can select from a list of lighter, grilled fare.
