Disgusting 5/29/2009

I ordered " chicharrones de pollo " and one of the pieces had been picked at. I brought it to the attention of the manager, and all he did was exclude my meal from the bill. At no time was an apology offered. On the contrary, as I left the restaurant he had a smile on his face and had the audacity to wish me a good night. I was floored by the total lack of class and decency. I wouldn't recommend this place to a dog more

Just Like Home!!! 2/21/2009

Arriving to Cabana Midtown could not be easier: leave the car home, take the N, R, W, 4,5 6 trains or the M101, M102, M103 or M98 buses and you will be just steps from the restaurant. Once inside you will be greeted by the most pleasant, friendly and inviting smile, which makes you feel as if the hostess has known you for some time already. The ambiance is warm, festive and an atmosphere of contagious happiness permeates throughout the place. In no time you are informed of the specials and your orders ae taken just as fast. If I may I would like to recommend the churrasco and the permil as well as the ropa vieja. These dishes have the most delicious taste. They are juicy and tender. The portions are generous so do not eat at least four hours before arriving if you want to experience your meals to the fullest. Let me tell you the churrasco is a long skirt steak served with onions, garlic, and special chimichurri. yes, it is OK to have one more to go. If you like fish try the tangerine salmon, the ceviche or the red snapper. You will be delighted! Do not worry about drinks selection. Cabana is the place where mojitos taste as if you were at some tropical country departing with friends. All in all, Cabana is the place to go. I want to thank Ana Carolina, Patricia, Jessica, Kayla, Andreina, Ana Maria and Jevit, Jose, Jessid and the super fast busboys whose names I cannot remember. Senor Harold, manager, all the waitresses and the staff in general a big thank you! I have been eating at Cabana for over seven years. My son is now thirteen and he cannot have enough of your churrascos. You know him. He has never wanted the lunch portion. He always goes for the mile long churrasco. Sorry other millions of restaurants but I am not leaving Cabana any time soon. Pros: Perfect ambience and excellent service. Well located and accessible by public transportation, many great stores to shopping and even two pharmacys nearby. Cons: None more

Great Food, Great Service 10/29/2008

I've been coming here a few years and it is some of the best Latin flavor in town. I live just outside of Miami and this is one of my regular spots when in town to meet with friends. I miss Norma (server) and Vanessa (bartender) but the waitress who served us actually remembered me after having not been there for over 9 months. I did not remember her until then lol. The people are just so nice and it is like a family atmosphere. I rank this place, Savila in the West Village and Blondies Sports Bar (West Side location) as my local unpretentious places where to meet up whenever in town depending on location and mood I'm in. And did I mention the great food? Oh my God! The Tostones Rellenos =- yum yum. Pros: Great Latin food, Service is excellent, Ambiance and color scheme, not so pricey for location Cons: No Norma and Vanessa, Bar stools have to go more

Cabana isn't any type of any restaurant . It has the best services you might not find in any other regular restaurant. Last night I headed to Cabana and I never expected such a excellent service. The food was great and delicious!!! As you can see the manager has a great contact to clients. It is fully crowded with many people from all types of countries exploring the restaurant. So what are you waiting for? Come out and explorer this great restaurant filled with great services that you will never find in another other particular restaurant. Aweful Management 6/4/2008

I was there this past Sunday ready to enjoy the last bit of the nice weekend. The waitress was very good and nice. Unfortunately, the manager was very unprofessional and shouted at the waitress for unknown reasons. If the manager has issues with the employee, it should be take care of behind the closed doors and not in front of the customers or even worst, at the main door. Normally not my business, but when this affects other staff and service, and kills the mood, and mistreats customers, it's my business. Very rude management towards customers. So rude that I had to find out the manager's name, Nestor, and voice it out on the internet. Rude Rude Rude! Pros: Good Food Cons: Very Rude Management 'Nestor' more

Food has DETORIORATED 5/2/2008

Used to delicious food but something has gone wrong! The cevice was dry the mixed grill was overcooked, the paella was tasteless and the chocolate coconut brownie was so dry that it seemed like nobody had even bothered to warm it in the microwave let alone make it fresh! For all the calories I consumed, it would have been nice to have some taste in exchange! Only thing edible was the rice and black beans on the side! Stay away!! Cons: Tasteless food more

Only go for the take out!! Lousy Service 3/19/2008

First and Last Time going to this place. It took over an hour to get the food. During the hour the waitress never reappeared to even ask us if we wanted a refill on drinks or anything. When the food came we asked her why did it take so long. She callously responded that some things take longer than others to cook. Mind you she disappeared for an hour so we couldn't ask her prior to receivng the food. The food was delicious, I will not deny that but after waiting 20 minutes to get a mojito to wash it down, I can do without this place. When we told our server that it was a birthday she rolled her eyes and never got the staff together to sing happy Birthday!! I spoke to the manager and he actually questioned me. He said he had a hard time believing that it would take an hour for the food to come. WHAT!! He even justified the fact the bus boys were picking up our plates so quickly is because they were so efficient, not that they were rushing us. I have been tons of restaurants but I will say this. The food is great, If you must patronize the establishment order your food to go. As for me, I will not support any establishment that does not VALUE its customers. Pros: Great Food Cons: Management and Staff are rude and unprofessional more

Best Lunch Ever!!! 10/23/2007

I came to this restaurant for a corporate lunch because one of our workers was leaving the firm. This was the best lunch ever (not just because all expenses were paid). The food was amazing; the service was excellent; and the atmosphere was easygoing. After a few pitchers of red as well as gold Sangria, which by the way is amazing in this place, this turned into one of the best and longest lunches that I ever had. Three hours later when we returned to the office not a soul was able to work, partially due to the amount of Sangria that we drank, but mostly because we has an amazing time in the restaurant and we did not want to end it. I highly recommend this great place. It?s nice to experience an authentic restaurant. Pros: easygoing atmosphere, excellent service, amazing food Cons: a bit pricey more

wouldn't go here again 8/9/2007

I read the comments about the servce being bad, but I'm not usually picky about that--but they were absolutely right. I have never been so hurried and rushed by waitstaff-- our waiter literally came over to us 3 times to see if we were ready to order before we'd been sitting for a full 8 minutes, the first time being about 2 minutes after handing us the menus. After we ordered, the food came in less than 10 minutes, and wasn't very hot, which probably means they just had it sitting around. And it was only eh. I would never go here again. more

Fantastic experience 8/1/2007

This was by far the classiest latino restaurant I have ever eaten in. My girlfriends and I drank all night and met great guys! Needless to mention, the food was served in a very beautiful presentation, very trendy.I hope they stay in the neighborhood forever,my highest possible recommendation. more

The worst mojitos ever! 4/23/2007

I went to Cabana last night with a group of friends. The waitress asked if we wanted a pitcher of mojitos or a pitcher of sangria. We started with the pitcher of mojitos and then ordered a pitcher of sangria. When we got the bill-- the pitcher of sangria was $18 but the pitcher of mojitos was $50!!!! When we aked the waitress about the price, she said that a mojito was $10 so she just multiplied that by 5 people. If that's the way they are going to do it, then don't offer a pitcher in the first place! The mojitos were also a complete disappointment-- they tasted like watered down rum since they were not made with either lemon/lime juice or soda water. A definite rip-off. Pros: tasty food Cons: horrible drinks more
