The SceneOnce home to The Green Room, this hip but approachable restaurant takes its color cues from vino and its menu from familiar, yet elevated ingredients. The long, illuminated red bar, punctuated by a stocked raw bar serving interestingly presented oysters, is where pretty pairs sip martinis. A buttery, candlelit glow flickers from tabletops nearby, and a polka-dot upstairs lounge overlooks the scene below. The FoodNew American dishes fuse unlikely pairings with stellar results. To start, several amuse-bouche, perhaps herbed oyster crackers, nori-seasoned potato chips, truffle popcorn and cold pear-parsnip soup, create intrigue. Delightfully robust, velvety forest mushroom risotto is a fab follow-up. Crisp, flaky halibut with trumpet royale mushrooms topped with shredded oxtail ravioli, spring onions and tarragon sabayon is surprisingly filling and light at once. Pork Two Ways (braised belly and tenderloin) is a sweet-and-sour delight when served with tangy endive marmalade, caramelized apples and rich apple gastrique.
