Lots of festive feelings here! The mariachi music is blasting away as you pull into the parking lot of the adobe looking restaurant painted with cacti and other "desert" flora and fauna. You are greeted at the door by a host or hostess attired in Mexican style costumes. If you've reserved seating, you will be led straightaway to your table where, as the famed commercial boasts, "Chips are free...dinner extra!", the bottomless baskets of fresh tortilla chips and salsa await you. If you did not reserve, you may have a wait but you can enjoy the large lobby area and view the fountain in the center of the restaurant.
The eating area is darkened subtly or you can dine Al Fresco...sorta...in the large atrium that overlooks the garden area. The noise level is less inhibiting in the atrium, however, you tend to lose the "festive gaity" the inner room provides.
The menus boast a wide assortment of Mexican dishes such as the Platter Fanstastico (my personal favorite) which consists of a very large taco, taquitoes, and enchiladas, served with beans and rice, and lettuce/tomato/guacamole/sour cream accompaniment. They also have burritos, chimichangas, fajitas, flautas, etc. served as meals or alone for the less than ravenous. They offer a generous bar with margueritas the specialty.
Prices are great for the amount of food you get, and they do have a childrens menu. Noon specials 11:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M Monday thru Friday.
I'm getting hungry just writing this. Open daily at 11:00 A.M. Ole' mi compadre'!
