Not for the Allergy-Prone 5/23/2006

It's definitely dusty in here, at least when I went recently. A great place for kids and adults--who will say, "Oh, i used to have," and "This is just like." Ah, childhood memories. Good for finding: all-occasion gifts, cubicle and apartment decoration, and nostalgia. Easy to get to by the Belmont Bus, but not a bad walk from the Belmont CTA at Sheffield, about 10-15 minutes. more

Vintage Toys 5/14/2006

From the outside, this place looks like a tiney run down shop. But when you get inside, it is like a treasure chest for not only little children, but the little kids within us adults as well. This is not one of your typical, modern day toy shops. its more one of those vintage shops that carries toys, dolls, and more from yesterday and things that are hard to find today. The store is a lot of fun to browse around and children love to check out all the things here. more

Need to kill some time 3/13/2006

You could easily disappear in this store, which is a bit musty, a bit rough around the edges, and a bit messy (but in an organized way). Toys and galore for you, your little brother, your goddaughter, or whomever you're shopping for. I always find some useless (but fun!) trinket or toy that I just have to own. more

For the Kid in All of Us 3/1/2006

Uncle Fun is truly that, so much fun. Give yourself plenty of time to look at everything as there is so much to look at. Real toys, irreverent mock-toys, and gags and books, and memorabilia, oh my. The place always has a lot of people in it, which makes it very difficult to get around, so i wouldn't bring a stroller in due to the tight constraints of the "aisles". Actually, I probably wouldn't take kids in here, for two reasons, one being that some of the toys may be a bit "adult", and two, I wouldn't want to have to try to keep them from picking up everything in sight. The place is totally chaotic, so don't expect a method to the madness. Just go in and have fun. Oh, yeah, and nothing is very pricey. Most trinkets are under a dollar. more

What? Awesome! 1/29/2006

Uncle Fun is a cross between Benjamin Frankin's, Woolworths and one of those machines at the grocery store that you put fifty (used to be twenty five) cents into and ger something weird out of. Go there if you need odd favors, magic tricks or gifts with some extra money(you don't need much) and some extra flare (they've got a lot). Check it out. more

You won't want to leave the store 8/21/2005

This store is FUN. It has lots of old favorites like the slinky, bobble-heads, hand-buzzers, fart-makers, rubber ducks, and some stuff you've probably never seen before. Check out their webpage, it is really funny-adds another dimension to all the toys, they even give you a work-out to help you have more fun! Located on belmont-right where it belongs. more

Everything a Kid Could Love 8/18/2005

Uncle Fun is even fun from the outside; it's that wacky stuff you loved as a kid inside. Centrally located in the Belmont corridor, it's the perfect place for party favors, stocking stuffers, or just someplace to perk up your mood after a stressful week at the office. It's for kids, but really it's for you too. Uncle Fun is, well, fun. more
