River Street Deli is somewhat of an anomaly,; a restaurant in the deep south that specializes in Kosher New York style delicatessen fare. Located in downtown in Coolidge Park, this deli offers a wide selection of deli sandwiches, fresh salads, soup, and daily specials. My favorites include the Cuban Sandwich and delicious black eyed pea salad. They also offer Greek, Tuscan bean salad and humus, along with other ethnic specialties. For the less adventurous, there is the Philly cheese steak and hot dog. The restaurant is unfortunately closed on Friday evenings when they host private parties. It's a great place for lunch, although a bit pricey, at @$5.99, for sandwiches, compared to other sandwich shops like Quizinos and Subway. River Street Deli is a unique eatery in the Chattanooga area, offering a little taste of the Big Apple in the deep south. Those who enjoy ethnic food will love River Street Deli. more
