This is a very good option for Japanese food. There a are a lot of Asian fusion restaurants that have some Japanese options but the menu is very limited. This is a true Japanese restaurant that really gets it right. The food here is very, very good. My friends and I come here at least once a month. more

Sakana Japanese Restaurant 3/21/2006

This restaurant is the perfect combination. They have great food at very low prices. I love sushi and this is one of the best sushi houses in the city. The seafood is always fresh and the sushi always comes to your table prepared perfectly. This sushi melts in your mouth. Always a perfect dining experience. more

Our Absolute Favorite 8/18/2005

Our absolute favorite sushi restaurant in the District is Sakana, on P Street in Dupont. It's located below street level, and the entrance is not one that would usually entice a visitor, but you won't be disappointed. The crowds on almost any given night will attest to that. Their sushi seems to be much fresher and more flavorul that other sushi spots around the city, and the prices are surprisingly affordable ($9 for soup and 12 pieces of sushi). more
