Rockwoods Reservation is a relatively small park that is a great and not crowded local space to know about. I personally ran there quite regularly (the long flat stretches and shaded paved roads are a real boon in the middle of a scorching St. Louis summer). There are also a decent number of trails of varying levels of length and difficulty through some beautiful forest.
