The Moonlight has something for everyone 8/11/2006

I love that I can eat at a place that meets my vegetarian needs as well as the needs of my carnivorous friends. The food is exceptional and creative. You can do a lot of things with fake meats. The ginger fish - veggie style is delectible. The Moonlight seems to draw a nice hipster crowd from the surrounding neighborhoods. I have mixed reviews about the take out process, though. The last time we got take out - we called in our order and were told it would be ready in 20 minutes. We got there a little early and were greeted with a shouting "I told you it would take 20 minutes! It's only been 10!" Uh... OK. more

Yeah for Vegan Pho! 11/2/2005

When I decided to become a veggie/vegan, I thought that my Pho days were through. Then I found Moonlight Cafe and hope was born again. I love their vegan pho and not to mention their whole vegan menu. The pho is a bit on the sweet side, but that is easily remedied with some peppers and hot sauce. The atmosphere is not fancy but the food is wonderful and really reasonably priced. The staff is really awesome too. It is a great place for veggies and meat eaters alike! As for the smoking and karaoke, there seems to be no more as far as I can tell. I have been there at least three times now and I have never seen smoking or heard loud music. I guess they got wise! more

Two full menus: one vegetarian, one not 8/17/2005

There is an unexpected surprise waiting in the Moonlight cafe: a full second menu that mirrors the regular menu except all of the dishes (Vietnamese, mostly and some chinese) are made with tofu and fake meat counterparts. As a vegetarian, it's fun to be able to order general tso's chick'n, and other standard fare that is usually reserved for meat. The downside of the place is that it is also a lounge, and smoking seems to be allowed inside. Also, there is a stage and a giant screen set up for kareoke, which could be fun if you're expecting it, or distractingly loud (can't talk to your tablemates) if you're not. In the future, I think I will carry-out my food. more

when you get seated at the moonlight, they give you two menus, one red for real meat items, one green for veggie. everything on their green menu can be made vegan and their fake meat is the best in the city. 100+ items on both menus. try #75 chicken legs and the sesame beef if almost creepy it is so much like the real thing. more
