I've been to Old Krakow (West Portal near 19th) a couple of times now and have really enjoyed the food
and staff. I went with a party of 8 last weekend and had a great time.
The waiter, who knew a lot about the breweries brought about 10 different beers to the table and we sampled each. It was great because I got to taste so many different Polish and German beers that I normally don't get exposed to.
For the table, we ordered beet salad - loved it, beef tartar - pretty good and the herring appetizers- awesome, a little salty for my sensitive to salt taste buds. We also had a side of Polish Kielbasa - I'm really not into sausage but this was great.
I absolutely love their mushroom soup - you'll want a whole bowl because a cup isn't enough. The borscht -tasted like a great home cooked soup and the garlic soup - just that, great garlic soup.
For my main entrée I had Pierogi - cabbage & mushrooms, meat and cheese & potato. You can get a mix of all three of them, next time I would not order the cabbage (it was too similar to Sauerkraut, which I don't like) but the others were awesome! For all the food and drinks the bill came to $40 each and well worth it!
