If you want fresh fish, go to Joe's. I don't know how a tiny dive in a Hylan Blvd. strip mall got a gourmet chef, but take advantage of it - because there's at least 15-20 specials a night on the blackboards, and there has to be less than 50 seats in the entire place. The freshest raw bar items you can find, and the prepared dishes are excellent. I never go anywhere else on the Island for calamari and pasta, fresh clams, oysters, or, of course, fresh lobsters (you can pick them out of the tank live). But don't go for ambiance.
