Avana La Jolla Apartments

These apartments are in terrible shape. No, it won't be obvious at first but when you do try to get something fixed it will take forever. Once the lease is signed the men and women in that office will treat you with 0 respect. Your just a rent check. The walls are seriously thin, you can hear everything the neighbors are doing. The laundry, when they shower, run the disposal, watch tv, or the dogs chasing each other around the apartment. Not their fault, I am positive we unintentionally drive them nuts too. This place has issues with mold, plumbing, and parking. And that's the short list. The people in the office do not care about anyone that actually lives here. It's all about passing the buck. Just today I counted 4 moving trucks, they were all moving out. Lucky them I bet it was the longest 60 days of their life. Yes, that's right potential renters. Not 30 days notice like normal rentals but 60 days notice is required. What the heck was I thinking? The noise level here is off the charts and I don't mean from partying. Oh ya, If your friends do drop by I don't know where they'll park. The whole place is red lined with no parking signs everywhere. Yes, they will tow you. Those two women in the office get their jollies from towing anybody they can. It doesn't matter if you live here or your the pizza delivery guy. The UTC is an awesome area to live in and there are tons of other apartments to check out. Do yourself a favor and check out other review sites this place has hundreds of unhappy campers and now I see why. more

Rude staff. Ugly old appartments. Poor attention to tenants. No visitor parking ( very few) .thin walls I can literally hear my neighbor snore and have sex. You can litterally hear your neighbor pee at night it is disturbing. Don't move in here seriously. I am placing this review every I can to inform people. more

My rent went up $700 over three years. Neighbors complain of being similarly gouged. This is not a long term establishment. The place is very poorly maintained. My apartment looked nice on site. After I moved in, I learned they caulked over mold and dirt, laid the kitchen flooring unevenly, patched a huge foot hole in a door (why not replace it?). The garage pipes leak sewage. The maintenance people just shrug and pretend it doesn't exist. The wood is rotting in my outside roof. I can't use my "ample outdoor storage" because it rains inside of it. Everything is a veneer with this place. Las Flores just pumped who knows how much money into the manager's office remodel, new paver stones, new landscaping, and new umbrellas -- on the forward facing side of the complex. Curb appeal. They're looking for high turnover. The good thing about the UTC/UC area though is that there's plenty of other places nearby to check out. more

These are one of the few sets of building around La Jolla that still display some character in their presentation. While everything else seems to be painted some dull variation of dirt, Las Flores remains true with its white exteriors and blue tile trim. Parking is not great, with the outdoor spaces way too small for most modern cars to fit well, and close quartered garages, though tenants do have the benefits of gated parking. The landscaping is very natural, and the units simply organized but sufficient. more
