It was nice 11/30/2008

Although it was a pretty ordinary Starbucks, it was a nice one. Nothing too out of the ordinary, which is a good thing. more

Kind of ordinary, but still good. 11/30/2008

They are pretty good. The drinks are consistent, just like every other Starbucks. more

Let the revolution begin, lets kicked all of them out that is not working for the mashes of the people, lets stop the the elected officials from oppessing the marjority of the people! Make the coorperation share the wealth with the stock holders! stop the board of directors from ripping us off of our investments! Elect officals that will work for us little people, not the lawyers that has already messed up the Government! Not the crooks that is in office NOW! Lets kick them OUT! more

Consistancy! 5/16/2006

I'm a big fan - I know...I feel bad because I should be supporting the small businesses. But, when you're having a hectic morning/day - there's nothing more comforting that knowing what you're going to get! When I have stopped at other cafés for my espresso, I am, 98% of the time, disappointed. I happen to LOVE the flavor at Starbucks, and find other places taste burnt to me...it's all relative, I suppose. But, I know that no matter what city I'm in, if/when I find a Starbucks, that I'll have a cool place to sit and enjoy my little bit of liquid heaven. more

Come on! There are so many indy coffee shops that would LOVE your business. 5/14/2006

Starbucks' coffee will turn your mouth a weird shade of brownish yellow that won't brush off for two days. DON'T GO TO STARBUCKS. They had a wonderful idea, and it got out of hand. Quality is lost. Their milk is oversteamed and their foam is too frothy. I'm from Kona, Hawaii, home of the 2nd best coffee in the world, and there is only ONE Starbucks there, and nobody goes there. C'mon. Support local businesses, not multi-national corporations (even if they are local)! more

Great Coffee 8/30/2005

A delicious place to enjoy a great cup of joe! Perfect for studying, meeting friends, or people watching. Try an iced Americano with white mocha, it is absolutely to die for! The chonga bagels are also great and the seven layer bars are the best! Stay away from the pre-made sandwiches later in the day, as they are not very fresh and do not have a lot of sauce on them! more

Universtiy District Starbucks 8/29/2005

There is also a great on that stays open late in the Universtiy District pretty late into the night if you want to stay up later. more

Hit-and-miss 10/7/2004

The last three times I've gone to the U-District Starbucks (the old one - they're bluilding a new one), I've have two excellent drinks and one mediocre one. This is better than the running records of many coffee shops on the Ave, sadly, but there are at least two with better records than this (which I will probably review separately elsewhere).

On the other hand, the Starbucks on Broadway (near the QFC) consistently gives me excellent drinks - I've yet to receive a sub-par drink from there.

I've occasionally stopped in at other Starbucks, and most of them seem to be very hit-and-miss - often more miss than hit.

Add to that frequent long lines and often insufficient seating in some of the busier locations, and Starbucks isn't that great. Their prices also seem to be slightly higher than the hole-in-the-wall coffee shops.

However, I would say that they are slightly better than a random coffee shop - drinks are often mediocre, but *very* rarely undrinkable, so if I'm in an unfamiliar area I'll go to a Starbucks rather than a random hole-in-the-wall. more

Char-Bucks 9/9/2004

Starbucks is the Wal-Mart/McDonalds of coffee establishments without the low prices. They have homogenized and upsized the coffee industry to such astounding and disappointing proportions I am embarassed to know this culinary disservice blanketing the world (though thankfully not in Italy) originated in my home town. I'm sure the forebears of coffee culture would have blanched at the notion of "Super Big Gulp" lattes and Frappa-whatevers. Starbucks has actually made it possible to increase your girth by drinking coffee. A true feat. My own soap box aside, the coffee is over-roasted, producing a bitter and subpar brew, hands down. I'd hit up Vivace or Torrefazione or a even a good cup of tea before I ever set foot in a Starbucks, no matter where I am, anywhere in the world. more
