This place makes cakes for every imaginable occasion. My friend was a big fan of this place. I thought nothing of it then I heard a couple other people rave about their cakes. This place is building a nice buzz. You will understand the reasoning for the buzz if you sample their great cakes. more

Yummmmy! - Wish I had some right now.... 12/14/2005

My mouth is watering just thinking about his wonderful treats. So many different optioins of cakes, cupcakes and cookies. And each bite tastes better than the next. His prices are reasonable for bieng in the city, my only complaint is that its a looong drive from my house, but well worth the stop by when I am in the area. His cakes are wonderful to give as gifts or holiday treats and his flavors are unlike ones that you normally see at other bakeries. Overall, very good quality, and highly recommended. more

Yes, it’s cute and inviting. Yes, it’s famous in the area for cakes. CakeLove is overrated though… there are so many other places in the area where you can get great desserts. I found the cake somewhat dry, overly sweet and rich, and overpriced. I’m not going to go back-- I’d rather get that delicious goober pie from kramerbooks! more

Great place for coffee, snacks 8/27/2005

This is a great place to hang out and read the paper or meet with friends. The baked goods are delicious and the coffee is very good. They also sell natural sodas and other fun goodies. The area has some great vintage shops and quirky stores, and Cake Love is a great place to take a drink and snack while you're out shopping. more

Cake for any occasion 8/15/2005

Whether you need to pick up a birthday cake, a cake for a dinner party, or you just want cake, Cake Love is the place to go. It's been written up many times in teh Washington Post if you want more information, but everyone I know would recommend their desserts. The store's website used to leave something to be desired, but I just checked (www.cakelove.com) and it looks like they've finally revamped it, with pictures, prices, and other information. more

Not too impressed 8/11/2005

Cake Love gets a lot of hype, but in my opinion, it is definitely just hype. I like rich, dense, and moist cakes, and that's not the type of cakes you'll get here. Although they are creatively made with different fillings and toppings, I find them slightly dry and airy. I really want to like it since it's local and the owner has a unique story (lawyer turned baker), but I sadly can't. It's not terrible, but don't get caught up in the hype. more
