Bobs Noodle Bistro

You want authentic food in DC proper? I heard it's just not going to happen (although I'm still on the quest). However, I was intrigued when I heard of a restaurant just outside of DC in Rockville, Maryland that serves authentic Taiwanese cuisine! I had to try this place myself. About 20 minutes outside of DC, you'll find Bob's 66 Noodle House in a tiny strip mall. At Bob's, you can expect to find all your Taiwanese favorites, pork chop rice, noodle soups, fried radish and egg pancake, oyster and egg pancake, and meat dumplings alike. The true test of authenticity, the waiter spoke Taiwanese and was able to accommodate a special request of pork chop noodle. Overall I would say Bob's Noodle had a sufficient menu of Taiwanese food, great prices, and judging by its clientèle of ethnic Chinese as well as non-Asian customers, that it has a broad appeal. I would recommend Bob's Noodle House to all those who would want to try Taiwanese food. Just beware that you can't get there by metro and in true Chinese fashion, it's Cash Only! more

You decide...when I first went to this place I really liked it but after trying out several stuff on their menu..the interesting recipes in some of the dishes..I got tired of eating there every week. Here are some of my suggestions for dishes that are pretty good like their stinky tofu, oyster pancake,and some of the big bowels of noodles. My kids fave is the shredded ice desert topped with corn, red/green beans, tapocia, lycees, fruit you name it. more

Great location off Rockville pike, a small Taiwanese (chinese) restaurant in new area of Chinatown (Rockville). The prices are very reasonable and causal background. Appetizers range from oyster pancakes, smelly tofu...May sure you get desert, the crushed ice with any toppings such as corn, lycee, taros, are absolutely yummy! more

I love Bob's so much. It's more Taiwanese than Chinese in terms of food style. It's always packed and the gracious owner, Bob, is there all the time. He even offered me a chair once to sit in while I was wiating for a table. The food is consistently great and everything on the menu is terrific - believe me, I've tried most of it. I especially love the oyster omelette and meat pie (ba wan) - both very typical Taiwanese fare. This place is best when you have a big group since many of the dishes are meant to be shared. You must finish off dessert with shaved ice. If you've got room, get the large one - it's monstrous and delicious! more
