Helping Horse worked wonders with our autistic daughter. She really responded to her horse-back riding coach, and she met lots of other kids with special needs who helped her build confidence and trust. The volunteers who help out by riding beside the children on the horses sometimes don’t show up, but the ones who are really committed are super with the kids. The only down side is that they don’t let parents pay per lesson or even per month. They want payments up front for the entire session, something which may be cost prohibitive for some. Overall, it’s a great place for special needs kids to go and build confidence, and it’s a great place for parents of special needs to meet to build support networks. Highly recommended.
