Lakeridge Athletic Club 8/11/2005

I am a swimmer, so I checked out Lakeridge to see their swimming facilities. It was geared towards lap swimmers or divers, as they have a long thin pool that is 4 feet deep for lap swimmers and a diving tank. They also have a really nice spa, but it tends to be crowded most of the time. The water temperature could be warmer, but they need to post signs warning people not to dive into the shallow lap swimming pool, as it can be really dangerous. more

Olympic Sized Pool, Tennis Courts 8/8/2005

Lakeridge has been around for at least 20 years. It used to be called Canyon Swim Club and was where I learned to swim. The pool hasn't changed much since then. It's still an olympic sized pool with 6 lanes (in my experience, a rarity these days - most health club pools are much smaller). They also have a weight room and a lot of workout equipment and classes, but the main draw for me is their nice tennis courts. Unfortunately, they seem to be resurfacing them every year or so, which is a drag cause you obviously can't play on them when they're being worked on. Still it's a little gem tucked away in the woodsy portion of el sobrante. more
