New York Botanical Garden 9/3/2005

The New York Botanical Garden is one of my husband and my favorite places in New York City. So much so -- that we got married there!! It is a wonderful place to visit any time of the year. Go in the fall to see the beautiful leaves or in the spring to see the gorgeous flowers. It is so large -- you can easily spend an entire day there. The rose garden is one of our favorite spots. We also enjoy exporing the "wooded" area. We got married in the Snuff Mill -- which is the smaller of the wedding/reception areas. They also have weddings in the main conservatory area. The service and location was perfect -- I can't imagine getting married anywhere else!! more

The New York Botanical Gardens 8/18/2005

The New York Botanical Garden is a beautiful, peaceful haven in the Bronx. If you are a nature lover you will be amazed by their gardens, flowers, trees and collections. It is a very large garden so wear comfortable walking shoes. It's a great place to enjoy nature, read a book and relax. They also have a family garden where they plant tons of vegetables, fruits and herbs. If you have kids you can also visit the children's garden. They also have a farmers market on Wednesdays in the summer. more

Beautiful botanical gardens, esp nice at Christmas! 8/5/2005

On 250 acres, the Bronx Botanical Gardens has been around for a long time and is well kept and a great place to stroll especially in the fall when you can gather many a pinecone or in the spring when the flowers are blooming. Many different gardens including a desert one with cacti. Admission to grounds only is about $6 with discounts for students. For an additional fee, you can visit The Edith Haupt Conservatory which hosts the train show yearly and you can see trains go through various New York City landmarks and bridges. All the landmarks are made of natural materials! Train show is great for all ages, though it does get crowded - try it right after the holidays. They also have many kids events throughout the year and a great gift shop with plants and gardening supplies. more
