this place is great 5/14/2010

i've been getting my hair cut at the south street location for the last 5-6 years. I have never had a bad experience with any of the staff or my cut. Very friendly and talented. The receptionist needs to get particular mention here. She is very effective and efficient. She deals with the volume of customers quite deftly, she's like an expediter in a busy restaurant. I witnessed on one occasion where she was dealing with a particularly quirky customer who had trouble speaking/understanding english. She took the time to help him understand what he was getting himself into. The staff are what makes this place so great and keeps me coming back!!! more

PRICES NOT THE SAME WHEN YOU GET THERE like quoted on the phone 7/30/2009

Good: Gal who trimmed my hair nice. Bad: $20 for less than 2" taken off & teh day before a gal who had a cut paid $15. I paid $20. Improvements: Bait & switch w/PRICES On the phone, cut was $10 In the shoo only for abuzz cut. Other: Overpaid & could have gotten the same haircut in town..closer tomy home. Cut was a trim & w/tip $25 for a trim NOT worth it. 3 stars. more

Temple University Chop 10/16/2005

Have my hair routinely cut at the Temple University location. Good stylists - quick service. Just had color done at the South Street location. more

Bargain prices 8/19/2005

The chop shop has been around for quite some time and it is known for the bargain prices you pay for a haircut. Many have told me they go to this hair salon to get their haircuts and there are hardly any complaints. It is conveniently located in South Street and appointments are not necessary. more

Just $10! 8/5/2005

Okay, the haircuts here are ONLY $10! I admit I have not been brave enough to get a haircut here, but my dear hubby and my best friend get haircuts here and they both look good, so I can vouch for the quality of the haircut. Granted, they never take a long time with either of them, and sometimes there's a line, but you can not beat the price. It costs less than Supercuts! more

Efficient and Scarily Cheap Cuts 8/5/2005

The Chop Shop is built on the no-frills haircut business model. A basic cut here starts at around 10 bucks, but you pay for extras like a wash, shampoo, etc etc. This works great for people who just want to touch up their hair and don't want the whole works, or simply don't want to pay for the rather useless extra services one gets at most salons. Despite the cheap prices the quality of the cuts is actually quite decent. I had one of the better haircuts in my life for just above 10 including tip. Of course, your mileage may vary - perhaps you could get a trim from them first before deciding to trust them with a whole new look. more
