Unaccomodating 6/22/2012

The Walnut has some great shows - The 39 Steps, Miss Saigon, etc. Just don't ever expect to be able to exchange your ticket at all if you are not a subscriber; even if it is more than 2 weeks in advance. They are extremely unaccommodating. Then they tell you that there are no exchanges or returns, and that it is written on the back of the ticket. Well, maybe it is, but the font on the back of the ticket is about 1/16th of an inch tall. I can't read it, even with glasses. In addition, if you try to get a refund from your credit card company you will be blacklisted from using any credit card with your name on it for any Ticketmaster-sold tickets. (Walnut uses Ticketmaster to process their tickets, but they are also the agents for sports games, other theaters, the orchestra, etc., etc.,). Bye Walnut, no more shows for me there. And if the $150 spent on this show is so important to them that it stops me from ever buying another ticket to their shows, so be it. more

nice theater 4/7/2006

This is a nice theater in a very convenient area. Tickets aren't quite as pricey as the Kimmel, though the off-Broadway shows don't make an appearance. The seating is pretty tight, especially if you're in the upper levels. But the staff were all friendly, and that's always appreciated. Take in a show if you can. more

Great theater classes 1/17/2006

In addition to offering great productions, the Walnut Street Theater also has a theater school which offers classes for children, teens and adults. They offer classes in acting, scriptwriting and more. I participated in several classes here and found the classes to be engaging and well worth the money. The faculty are knowledgeable at their craft and gifted in helping you to find your inner artist. more

Beautiful theatre 1/15/2006

I have to agree with the other reviews Walnut Street theatre is a touch of class. Its shows are very well done and very entertaining. Its a different sort of entertainment for especially Philly residents. The prices are also very reasonable. Parking is available right next door. Its also right next to south street so its a good place for a nite out. more

It is always a pleasure to go see a show at Walnut Street. It is very nice inside and comfortable. A subscription is very reasonable and each year brings solid shows. Parking at Will Eye's across the street is convenient and affordable- only $6. more

First Class Theater!! 9/25/2005

We have been subscribers for a while now. We opt for a medium priced package. The shows are professional theatrical productions. I love live theater and this is a beautiful, comfortable building in which ti watch a show. The center city location near several upscale restaurants makes this a great start or finish to a gourmet meal. more

Great Subscriber Packages 9/25/2005

I have been a subscriber to the Walnut Street Theater for 2 years now. Having seen some of their productions in the past, I had no qualms about commiting to a subscription. The Theater produces 5 "main stage" productions each year along with special presentations and children's theater. The subscription package includes tickets to 5 productions for $80!! Ok, the tickets are for Thursday nights and the seats are definite nosebleeds. But the shows are very well done and I enjoy them. Obviously, other packages or individual tickets are available. The theater is the oldest continually operating theater in the U.S. It is in the heart of Center City. It is within walking distance to many of the City's popular restaurant. Parking is available in nearby parking garages, I like the Wills Eye lot directly across the street for price, convenience and safety. more
