Cafe Coco is open 24 hours, but it doesn't feel like that kind of place. It's in a house with quirky little rooms, great porches and a courtyard shaded by an ivy-covered trellis. The coffee menu is endless, plus there are a couple of interesting tea drinks -- my favorite is a milky iced spearmint tea that may sound weird but is really good.
Their menu is basic -- sandwiches, pizza and pasta, salads and soups -- but everything's good. The dessert choices are fantastic; there are always several cheesecake varieties from which to choose.
The vibe is very laid-back, which unfortunately extends to the servers. The wait time for food is often lengthy. Also, Cafe Coco is located in the bustling Elliston Place neighborhood, so parking will cost you unless you can snag a street spot or one of the five designated Coco spots in the next-door pay lot.
There are usually good coupons available at www.cafecoco.com.
