Going Down Hill 2/13/2023

I have shopped here for well over two decades. The store itself has some very nice items. I shop here because I really like the deli department. However, the deli department has really gone downhill and fast. When Lucy headed the deli department the service was lovely. The service people behind the counter have been there a long time specifically Alida and Ben. As of late, I have received terrible service from Alida. She is one of the people who has been there for quite some time. She has become belligerent and really rude. On 12/29/22 she gave me Columbus salami when I clearly directed her to give me Molinari (she charged me Molinari price). In the past, she has served me no less than 100 times, over the years. I am very specific when I tell her what I want. For example, on 2/2/23, I ask that the salami be layed out flat and separated with the plastic by layer. In the past this did not have to be requested as this was the way everyone in the deli did it. They used to show you the first piece sliced, now you have to request to see it. When I got home, I had a stack of salami, not even an attempt to follow the direction. The newer people like Cooper give really great service. Funny how the newer people get it right, but veteran Alida cannot which leads me to believe it's intentional poor service. There is also another veteran counter person named Ben who actually leaves the counter when he sees me coming and shuffles off to act like he's going to make sandwiches, because he doesn't want to slice a half pound of salami. Piazza's deli department needs to take a serious look at these veterans because they are costing Piazza business. I used to shop here once a week and now my trips are becoming less and less frequent. One of the reasons I used to shop here was the service factor which is now becoming almost non-existent. more

Good upscale market 7/17/2006

This used to be our local upscale market and now it's my MILs and we like it. They have some good baked goods if you need them, an olive bar, pretty good soups. They have good service as well. Piazza's is not as upscale as Draeger's but not like a normal grocery store either. It's worth stopping in just to see if they have anything new to try. more

Piazza's Market 3/23/2006

A friend told me about it - located off 92 - it is a great one-stop shopping for all groceries for all the family that are health contious. Prices are steeper then at Trader Joes - that is one exit away - but variety is different (i once purchased an organic water melon there.) They also sell kosher products - lots of them in fact. more

Family owned market with great bulk food 8/3/2005

We were lured in by the good deals on produce that they advertise in their circulars, but this is our favorite place to buy bulk grains. The produce is pretty good too and the prices on packaged food are reasonable. There is a European cheese market and how can you not love a store that gives samples of cheese? There is also a great bakery. There is an ample wine section. And you can find organic foods along their aisles. You can get some of the same things as Whole Foods, but with a more homey feel. It is located in the shopping center off of the Hillsdale exit on 92 in San Mateo across the street from Gymboree. more
