He may or may not be the cheapest, and scheduling can be an issue... becaue he's popular and they're busy, but he's always honest, won't do work that isn't necessary, and fixes it...

Having been a loyal customer for decades, it is hard to say STAY AWAY, but I must. Rick is great. Porsche = go to Rick. It is the others at his garage - primarily James - that make it a MUST avoid shop. Sloppy. Rude. No attention to detail. Many return visits - all costing me money. Find another shop. more

Shady. 3/13/2012

Got an estimate here and another shop. Rick's was $1500 more for the exact same work. They also have poor customer service. Very rude. more

Stay away 7/14/2011

Poor service. Took my car there to fix an oil leak. Had to take the car somewhere else to re-do the job. more

Highly not recommended 9/5/2009

Their good reputation was gone long time ago. Try to find somewhere else like Peter B. Their service is no longer competent and even more expansive than dealer service. more

Nice service 12/22/2005

It has a good repair service and maybe that is why a bit more expensive than the other repair services. When I call in for an appointment, they have already many work to finish so that I have to wait. I waited for about a week. They soon checked out what is wrong with my car and fixed it well. When I drove it back home, the next day a little warning light was enlighten. It made me nervous. But finally it showed up something wet from the rain, and after dried up it turned off. :) more

Premier import mechanic in Champaign 8/1/2005

After I got my 83 944, I discovered that the timing belts needed regular maintenance with a special Porsche tool that cost $400+. Obviously I didn't want to go buy it, but the local (well, in Springfield, but the closest one anyway) Porsche dealership wanted $650 to do the job. Then a friend told me about Rick's Automotive. They do all kinds of imports--when I went there, there were 3 Porsches, a Jag, a couple Mercedes and a couple BMWs. They were able to do my timing belts for less than half of what the Porsche dealership was asking. more
