I should preface this review by saying if you are looking for highly styled or propped portraits, Doug is not Yuen Lui. Not that he can't sit his subjects on a white, press-board cube and light them until the disappear. He can, it's just not his best work.
Doug has an interesting background (I'll let him tell you) and it is that which convinced me I wanted him to photograph my wedding (ground zero for family portraits). In black and white, the pictures have a journalistic quality to them. Each one tells a stories and together they capture the emotional and spiritual richness of that event.
Doug has photographed all types of people--infants to aged. He has a series of newlyweds that communicates all the hope of new marriage. His images of pregnant women pulse with new life.
