It's definitely worth making a trip to Irvine before your next gun purchase. The prices at A & W are much less than you will find in Winchester, Lexington, or Richmond, including Wal-Mart.
The only place I know with lower prices is Red House, and they only operate under limited hours by word of mouth, so unless you shop there, A & W is the place to go.
The store is smallish, and it's usually smoke-filled too, and Wilton has better things to do than to sell you a gun you don't want, like talk with the old men who hang out there, or visit with his wife when she comes over from her beauty shop next door.
He's knowledgeable, though, and will answer the questions you ask. He will only answer the questions you ask, though, so don't let his lack of high-pressure sales techniques be confused with not caring about his product or his customers.
As with most gun stores, he has a very wide variety, including specialty long guns. My father and his buddy drove 3.5 hours to see Wilton to get outfitted for their elk hunt. What he doesn't have he can order, and it will usually arrive within a couple of days.
