Virgina Zoo 8/18/2005

Are your wild animals (otherwise known as your children) at home driving you crazy? Why not take them to see some real live critters. The Virgina Zoo has many animals for your kids to gawk at in amazement. Lions and tigers and bears, oh my! Well, not bears, but the newer tiger and Africa exhibits are amazing. The meerkats are cute too. Best of all, you kids can burn off that excess energy in an outdoor environment where they are not the wildest creatures around. more

Small But Great for the Kids 8/8/2005

The Norfolk Zoo is small and doesn't have a ton of animals, but will be satisfactory for young children who just want to see the usual favorites. The cafe and gift shop on the premises are also small but decent and well-maintained. The admission prices have risen quite a bit in the last few years, but with the new additions to the zoo and the fun family atmosphere, it's worth the price. I'm excited to see what will happen as they continue to expand the zoo ... more

Zoo 8/8/2005

The Zoo here in Hampton Roads is really pathetic. There are hardly any animals in it, very few things to do and a waste of a day and money. I find it hard time even calling it a Zoo it is that small and has so few animals. They say they have done all of these rennovations and added so much to it however I fail to see anything really different that would make me want to spend my day and money here. more

Awesome day adventure 8/3/2005

The VIrginia Zoological park is a fun time for the whole fmaily, THere is plenty of parking for everyone. Youcan buy year passes that will save you alot of money if you like to visit often. THey have a nice petting zoo that the small children love. Wear your comfy shoes as this is alot of walking. Very clean and there are table to sit and ahve your lunch or snack. THere is also a large water fountain that the kids can play in near the entrance, If you havent been yet you should check it out. more

Lots of upgrades to the zoo 8/2/2005

The Virginia Zoo has been doing a lot of work on making it a very great place to go. The addition of the new African area, really enhances the park. Being able to see the elephants, zebras, and giraffes in a more natural habitat was amazing. They even added a new baby elephant to the herd. The petting zoo area is great for children of all ages, including myself! We loved the small monkey exhibit and all the children in our group found this to be their favorite place! The zoos only downfall is the fact that they are small and don't have an abundance of animals. But then again, for the price and the fact that young children can't take large zoo's, this zoo is a very good place for a family outing. I would recommend getting a season pass. more

Our zoo is bare! 7/28/2005

As a hampton roads native, I have been to this zoo many times. For as large of a place as we are, you would think we could afford a better zoo!! There's hardly any animals; lots of unused space!Ever few years a animal mysterioulsy dies, there was a scandal of an employee embezzaling money and it's just is kind of boring. Better yet, take 3 hrs and go to the national zoo which is awesome!! more

Come see the animals!! 7/23/2005

The Norfolk Zoo is one of Hampton Roads' treasures. In recent years they added a really neat African exhibit that has baboons, rhinos, tigers, zebras, and more. There is also a reptile house, farm animals section, seals, and tons more. It truly is a fun place for everyone to come and see the animals. The zoo is inexpensive and there is plenty of parking. After you see the animals, be sure to bring a picnic lunch and eat outside in the park right next door. I definitely think everyone who lives in the area needs to visit the zoo here at least once and you will have a great time interacting with animals from all over the world. more
