I worked for The Real Robert Moore, The best man to hit Nash 8/16/2010

When I first arrived in Nashville, I hopped off a greyhound and just figured it wing it....bad idea, I got caught up in th the Murphreesborough bull crap. I ended up smoking crack and hanging with hookers. I returned to Brooklyn broke and not happy but not dissuaded. I returned to Nashville a couple years later found a good job, working in Robert''s, I was homeless, hungry and hating life. Robert Moore showed me that if you have guts, you can really make it anywhere. he gave me a job as a cook, then being a jerk with a bad attitude from Brooklyn I became one of the baddest bouncers on Bway. ask around,. I worked with Tex, Jule, Cowboy, and some other really great people. I will always love Nashvelle and am planning a trip back soon. shout out to Layla, Ruble, Brenda, Brad Sanderson (Keeping Nash Alive) Love you guys. Peter Weiss more

Boots and Country music 7/15/2009

The home for traditional country music! Here you can listen to great live music the entire week. This is the place where you will really have fun while enjoying a cold beer. This place is really charming. Don't miss their huge selection of boots on the walls. Pros: music & drinks more

Great music and clean air 3/8/2009

Great place; some business colleagues and I closed the place every night when we were in town awhile back. No way we would have spent any time in there if it hadn't been nonsmoking. We spent alot of money; mostly on beer. Nonsmokers make more money than smokers and spend more; that's just a fact. Pros: nonsmoking Cons: a little crowded more

Great entertainment 11/6/2008

We always stop at Robert's whenever we come to visit. Their entertainment is always top notch. The old style county music they play is great to listen to. The burgers are great for the price. The staff is always friendly and accomodating. Our main complaint is that you can no longer smoke. This is an adult place, and should cater to those of us who smoke. We stayed for only one set, where we used to stay for hours.I even spoke to the bartender who said business was down since they don't allow smoking anymore. That should tell the owners something. Look at your books and compare to what you used to have. Us smokers spend more money and stay longer. That's the bottom line. Sorry to all you non smokers, but facts are facts. Those of us who smoke spend more money. We love the place, but won;t stay for long. We hope you'll go back to smoking. more

10pm show 10/21/2008

I heard that the band playing at 10 pm had a great mix of old and new danceable tunes. And they're friendly and appreciative of the crowd. Some old timers in there to really add an authentic air to the music. Pros: Comfortable seating, Jesse's band @ 10pm more

great 9/3/2008

Robert's is the best! I especially enjoyed The Don Kelley Band. I love the way they infuse new life into old tonk classics. JD has got to be the best guitar player on Lower Broad. The rhythm section kicks butt, and i dug the way Don kept things moving with little or no down time between songs, and what a great classic country singer. I found the vibe to be warm and cool, and Gail and the other girls were friendly and nice. more

Tired songs 8/27/2008

I've been in this bar a few times, but the band plays the same songs every time. The songs are the same and the order is the same. D Kelly Band was rude to people who were paying customers. What's up with that? Pros: It's free Cons: folk music more

best local talent and food. 4/24/2008

Roberts was fantastic. I had the best time there. Scott Icenogle and the A-11 band are awesome and I can't wait to go back there. I urge anyone in the Nashville area, or tourist to go to Roberts for the best burgers and local talent there is. I can't wait to go back. Pros: food and talent Cons: parking more

Best burgers and most friendly bartenders 10/28/2007

Our bartender was a peach. Very nice to talk to great suggestions on how to get around town and find points of interest. Her name was Crystal and because of her we returned a second night while visiting Nashville. As a hot dog fanatic she suggested places to try and I returned and gave her my taste survey of I Dream of (hot dog word that sounds like teeny but it won't let me submit it) in East Nashville and the Hot Diggity Dog on Ewing. She was an asset to Roberts Western World. They also had a couple of the best bands on Broadway. Crystal it was nice to meet you. Pros: Great inexpensive food Cons: Loud on Wednesday but good more

Best Live Music On The Strip 4/27/2007

It doesn't matter if you go on a weekday or weekend night, the live music doesn't dissapoint. Parking can be a pain if there is a special event, but do not let that keep you away. Robert's has the best bugers too. Scott Icenogle must play there everyday, and rightly so because he has an outstanding voice and a very diverse showcase. Dress up, dress down, just get on over there! Pros: Great live music, burgers, atmosphere Cons: Parking, crowded on weekends more

Awesome Music 4/15/2007

Thank God some things don't change. I went with a group of friends, and after making our way down a very changed Broadway, we felt at ease at Roberts. What has happened to Nashville? Broadway is now getting the giant, Money driven, Corporate style places ruining the downtown like every other American city. Pros: Greatt Music Cons: Slightly warm Beer more

Don Kelly Band Superb 1/25/2007

I wandered in off Broadway on a Thursday and heard the Don Kelly Band at Robert's Western World. The band and the bar seem to be preserved pretty much intact from the days of Merle Haggard and George Jones. Place is comfy and music was superb. Very tight band with great pacing. I congratulate the owner for keeping this place traditional and this band playing regularily. I haven't heard any of the other bands that play there yet, but if they're anywhere near as good... I too had heard the stars hire their lead guitarists from Don's band. Drummer Artie's playing stings just right, like a good whiskey going down. Dave, the bass man has a beautiful touch, deep and rich. Don is a superb, experienced musician with a great list of songs. I know this is supposed to be a critique about the bar, so I'll add I don't see anything wrong with the bathroom; it's part of the ambience. There's a nice upstairs area in the back for parties as well that exits out to the Ryman. Gail was my server; yep, she's pretty. Are the boots for sale? Pros: Country Music! Cons: Can't get french fries like that at home more

Don Kelly Band is a treat! - he knows good musicians and ALWAYS has 'em in his band! 1/22/2007

Premier time on Broadway in 6:30-10pm when the best musicians and most professionals play. Like "The Don Kelly Band". My boyfriend and I have been listening to these guys for about 4 years when we come to Nashville. There's no one who plays real country music better. The country stars in town come to see the Don Kelly Band when they want to hire a new lead guitarist! What does that tell you?! Don is a skilled guitar player and a vocalist as well and does some non-traditional songs that will take you to another place in time, like "The Weight" and "Everybody's Talkin'". And don't forget bluegrass; he knows it and can play it. But country songs are number one. He has a CD too. These guys have been musicians all their lives and it shows. Some city folk and people from other lands hear a lot of western and pop western and think "That's country." But when your bass player is from Johnny Cash's band, and you've played in a lot of real Texas bars like Don Kelly, then you know what real country music is. Don can put together a string of country songs for a good set like nobody! And they're fun to dance to. The sign of a good band like Don Kelly is one that brings in crowds consistantly, and one that brings in the money as well. One time some dancers from the Grand Old Opry came across the alley from the Ryman and danced for the crowd impromptu. Wonderful! Gayle is the sweetest, most thoughtful server you'll ever had. And remember, she and the band get paid by your tips. Good musicianship first. You won't leave feeling let down with Don Kelly's band. Pros: Don Kelly Band Cons: When Don Kelly Band isn't playing more

Best bar and talent in the World 12/25/2006

If standing room only and lines out the door trying to get in at 1:00 am is any indicator of how good a place is.... then Roberts Western World and the Rockabilly band Brazilbilly is truly the best in the world. It is tradional country music at its best. I was glad I came early, around 10 pm, and stayed late until 2:30 am because if I had arrived later I would most likely not have been able to sit and would have had to stand up 4 hours to listen and watch a fantastic traditional country music, eat great cheese sticks and the best cheeseburger I have ever had. (Actually, I have stood and watched Brazilbilly for 4 hours and never regretted a minute of it after all if they can perform 4 hours without a break I can surely stand around and lean on the bar that long.) The PBR is a gotta have, too! Some stars and lots of good looking people walk through the doors, constantly. Anyway...back to what I meant to talk about....All the staff is very friendly and helpful. I do not understand why I have never heard the Brazilbilly band and the fearless and highly talented leader, Jesse Lee Jones, on the radio or on tour. He is the real deal! He has it all...looks, voice, vocal range, yodel, whistle, energetic, stage presence, small rythm guitar, and......I could go on and on. I am certain this group is going to outshine its predecessor BR-549 by 4-1. If you are in Nashville on a Friday or Saturday night...you have to go to Roberts Western Wear! Any other night is is great too.... it is just that Brazilbilly is only there on Friday and Saturday nights. Roberts Western Wear is true experience of what Nashville is all about. Pros: Jesse Jones, Brazilbilly, Cheeseburgers, Atmosphere, Friendly People Cons: none more

Best Honky-Tonk on Broadway! 11/19/2006

Robert's Western World is the real deal. The only place in town safe from horrendous covers of Rolling Stones songs and Kenny Chesney want-to-be's. Grab yourself a Pabst Blue Ribbon, leave your puca shell necklace at home, and get ready to hear non-stop Marty Robbins, Elvis, Merle Haggard, Roger Miller, and every other COUNTRY CLASSIC in the book. Pros: Darn Good Country Music! Cons: They're not open 24 hours a day! more

Best bar in town 8/28/2006

Roberts Western World is the best bar in Nashville. It is a must see for anyone looking for good music, good fun, good service and good history. Pros: Good music, good fun, good service Cons: Nothing more

Always the first stop 4/6/2006

It's $1000 to get there but a few cold Millers and a few hours of Don Kelley makes it worth it. A great, friendly crowd and staff always makes us feel welcome. Highly recommend. Pros: Great music, Reasonable prices, Friendly staff Cons: Too much fun more

PAPPY!!!!!!! 11/4/2005

Robert's is home of "Good Old Traditional Country Music." It is the best bar on Broadway. Make sure to go on Friday/Saturday nights to see Brazilbilly and my favorite fiddler, Pappy. They have a strange mix of young and old local groupies. Friendliest bar tenders and doorman; plus the cheapest mixed drinks on Broadway and PBR in cans. I have never left Robert's without a smile on my face. Robert's never disappoints!!! Pros: Pappy, Brazilbilly, Cheap Drinks Cons: None more

Quintessential honk tonk 6/13/2005

Great music, especially Don Kelley Band and Brazilbilly. Food and PBR are also outstanding. Classic, wonderful honk tonk. (Can moderator add the Y to honk? The board wouldn't take it with the Y.) Pros: Everything Cons: Nothing more

Love It!!!! 9/10/2003

I love Robert's!! I try to get to Nashville at least once a month and Robert's is the best place to go. They have the best fries in the world. I often tell the bartender that I drive three hours just to get some fries from there. Has wonderful music. Ask the bartender for a royal flush drink. It is out of this world good. Pros: Good Crowd Cons: Bathrooms need work more
