A one time thing 6/22/2008

I agree that the food was over priced and less then desirable. The atmosphere was very lovely, an elegant romantic feel but not worth the price. Pros: Beautiful Cons: Food was bad, nothing special or good about it . more

Nice decor but food is unmemorable 5/31/2008

Enjoyed the experience but will not venture there again. The restaurant is nicely furnished and very romantic for a couple's evening out. However, by 8:00 the restaurant becomes a bustling social scene, making conversation across the table difficult. Our server was pleasant and very accommodating. He brought out several plantains/yucca side dishes with our entrees to sample. The food itself though is unmemorable and overpriced. You can get better flavored Cuban food at Versaille in L.A. for a fraction of the cost. more

Great romantic ambiance 5/19/2008

We went there for our anniversary on May 16th at 7pm. We don't live in the area. Food was very good, service was good and atmosphere was very nice. I would have gone later. It doesn't seem that the action there starts until around 8:30. It was not very busy up to then, but by that time we were getting ready to leave! more

Great food and Ambiance 5/16/2007

I went to madres for mothers day and had a wonderful time with my family. I was very pleased with the menu selections and how tasty the food was. The restaurant is absolutly beautiful to dine in and the service was great too. I must admit that I was a little worried that the service wouldnt be as good because of how extremely busy they were. But I was wrong, the servers were so attentative and polite. I applaud them for working so hard and keeping a smile on their faces. I thank madre's for making our mothers day a memorable one. Pros: great food and service Cons: kids place more

Beautiful Restaurant 5/16/2007

Went to madres on mothers day for lunch, it was very buisy, we were late for our reservation so we had to wait for 20 minutes to get seated, they seated us in the main dining room but we did not like it we asked the hostes to move us to another and they accomandated us immediatly. Once we got seated we were greated by the server and offered us some mojito's, they were the best i ever had. We ordered from the 5 course menu our appetizers, salad and entreee, the service was excelent and the food was delicouse, it took a little longer for the food service but that was exceptable as they were extremly busy. We will recomend madres to all our friends. Pros: Great place to visit Cons: Kids more

rac ist 5/13/2007

this was the second worst dining experience i've ever had. the food was decent, the decor was beautiful, but the service was awful. i could give them the benefit of the doubt and say that it was pretty busy because it was mothers day, but they were just lazy and rude. we waited so long between each course and two tables who had arrived later than us received their salads/soups and entrees before my table. our entrees were luke warm. in addition, we had to pack up our own to go boxes. our desserts we mediocrely prepared compared to the tables around us. the most upsetting part for me was that my mother did not receive a rose though the mothers at the tables around us received one. needless to say our server received a mediocre tip; i believe that she could have been a better server in general AND that she could have made more of an effort given our situation. needless to say i will be letting my friends know about my experience. i will definately not go there again EVEN if i go with latino friends. you may be thinking that this is a fake review, but it is not if you so chose you can contact me at lavnder81@hotmail com Pros: nice decor Cons: awful service more

Gorgeous restuarant! 4/13/2007

The interior was beautifully decorated and had a lot of charm. The food was excellent and so were the cocktails. The food was rather expensive but a real treat. Pros: Nice decor, fabulous food Cons: Expensive more

Clumsy Customer Service 4/13/2007

We attended Madre's ""Patron Dinner"" last night, and my party felt as though we were having dinner in a cafeteria. The waitress was great, but the servers were terrible. Before we were half way through our first course, the servers we bringing out the next dish. They knocked over several of our glasses, and never bothered to apologize. Each one in our group a different item from the items being served that night. My rubbery prawns were drowning in a rather bland sauce; the oxetails were under-cooked and tasteless. Their boneless chicken breast tasted like it had been sitting in a warmer for hours. Pros: Great Looking Interiors Cons: Mediocre service coupled with uninspired and bland food more

The best Latin Restaurant 2/4/2007

It was a great experience, it all started once we entered Madre's with the Valet opening the doors for us, then we got created with a big smile by the hostess she accomandated our request with pleasure, once we were seated we were showered with friendly service from the heart, the food and presentation was fit for a star, the atmosphere and ambiance were very confortable and romantic specialy with the live entertainment. We highly recommend Madre's to all ages and occasions. Pros: Thumps up more

Bland food, great atmosphere 12/17/2006

I went to Madre's with my husband and my sister-in-law. We all agreed that Madre's has great service-- the staff were very attentive and friendly. The mojito was strong and good. The food, however, was very bland. The mojo on the yucca tasted non-existent. The veggies were without flavor. The sea bass & chicken that we ordered were tender and but completely lacked flavor. The black beans & rice was ""okay"". The highlight of the night was the garlic-infused olive oil that came with the bread and crackers before the meal. I'm not Cuban but I grew up in Miami... in my opinion, Cuban food is MUCH more flavorful and good than what we had at Madre's. Madre's is not recommended for a full meal! more

The Best Latin Food in Los Angeles 12/10/2006

What a great experience, once we entered the restaurant we were created with a big smile by the hostess as well as the Manager, requested a romantic table, we were accomandated immediatly. Service was proffesional and friendly the food was deliciouse as well as the Mojito's and Sangria's the best in Los angeles. We orderes Ceviche de Mariscos and Empanadas for appetizers and filete de bistec and Rabo Escandido for entrees, the food was prepared authenticly deliciouse, keep room for the home made desserts like Tres Leche and Flan Cubano were out of this world. The atmospher and ambiance was happening and romantic, the decor was wonderfull to any taste, the entertainment with a trio stroling around tables with romantic latin Boleros made everything perfect. Highly recomended to all ages, we will be back with some friends very soon, we love Madres. Pros: Everything was Great more

The worst food ever! Service was good. 11/21/2006

We celebrated my sister's birthday there and we had great customer service. However, the food was not worth the money we paid. There was nothing authentic about it and I was extremely disapointed. The sangria and mojito was good. I will never go back again. Pros: Great customer service, good drinks Cons: food tastes horrible, too pricey more

Don't ever come to this place 11/17/2006

The only reason my friends and I decided to eat at Madre's was because of a request from the person who's birthday we were celebrating but even he stated that he'd never step foot in this place again! We made reservations and still had to wait a long time. When we were finally escorted to our table...the place was half empty!! All hype! Then we were given bottled water (they didn't ask if we wanted anything other) which ended up being $10 each! The food was horrible. It honestly tasted and looked like something out of a can. The rice was dry and the beans were tastless. Good luck trying to get the attention of one of the waiters too. The only time we saw our waiter was for our order and to give us the check. Cons: Food, Service, Value more

Padre Must Be Proud 9/19/2006

Prior to dining here, I watched a special on the E network about this restaurant. On the show, Jennifer mentions that her dad works at the restaurant. Yeah right... Well I dined here one Saturday night and guess who is supervising the bar? Good ole Padre Lopez. Who, by the way, is very friendly/flirty. Talk about keeping it real...The atmosphere is very romantic, with and Old-Spanish flair. I thoroughly enjoyed my food and drinks, as well as the roaming Mariachi players serenading the patrons. Hey, Padre Lopez, call me. LOL. more

Make Reservations - Cute place 9/11/2006

This is a very cute place for either large parties or dinner for two. The Pros: Great ambiance, Great drinks Cons: Service can be slow and temperature of the restaurant is extreme more

Good Place to Try Once 9/9/2006

This place was okay. The food is just there, nothing too extraordinary. The restaurant is hard to find and it is quite small. However, it is just beautiful and very shabby chic inside the restaurant. It's a great place to go out to eat with the girls!!! I was there on a Sunday evening and it wasn't too crowded, which is just nice. I would recommend that people try this place at least once. Pros: The ambience Cons: Finding the restaurant more

Excellent Restaurant 9/5/2006

They gave us the table next to the kitchen and bathroom (I would recommend you specifically ask not to be seated at this table). After moving us, the service was excellent. The sangria tastes like strawberry syrup and the mojitos are mediocre but strong. We ordered an excellent $45 Argentinian wine which was probably the highlight of our meal. Our table of 5 ordered different dishes from paella, pork, chicken, seafood. Every dish was excellent and the paella especially stood out. If you don't like deshelling your seafood, ask the waitress it be done for you when you order. For dessert, get the flan, it was creamy deliousness. Manditory valet parking is $4.50 and there is live music Saturday night after 8pm. I thought the prices were reasonable: 5 dishes (including the most expensive one on the menu), wine, 3 cocktails, 2 desserts and coffee came out to under $300. There are two dining rooms, the main one is quite loud and the one surrounding the bar is quieter. Pros: Flan Cons: Cocktails more
