Eggplant quiche was great, everything else okay, coffee is m 10/2/2011

Enjoyed the eggplant quiche of the day. Eggplant is tricky to get right, this was soft without being at all mushy, just right. Generous eggplant portion in the quiche. The tomato bisque was good, a cup is a good portion. The coffee is just okay. Offering a French press option (for two, charge a bit more) would be a lovely choice on the menu. Ambiance is a bit sterile (black and white) but they moved into a bigger space (the place was packed) and plenty of parking. Nice bathrooms. more

The pastries are a rare combination of beauty and function, delicious to the tongue and the eye. When I bring them to friends parties they are always a hit. The bread is authentic and comparable to fresh baguette and croissant I have had in Paris. The service is an exact balance of taking care of you and letting you savor the food and conversation. Excellent price for value, Quality is consistent and first rate. I have been to Douceur in Roswell which is just as good but prefer the intimacy of the original Marietta one (although I did meet my lover for the first time at the one in Roswell). Wish they were open late so we could drink coffee and eat pastries after other events. more

This place is a dream come true. I personally travel from Raleigh, NC just to go to Douceur de France.\r \r My response to Shocked Customer:\r \r Given your ignorant comment about WWII and French Restaurants I have to agree completely with the ""French lady"" rolling her eyes. Please do not go into a French establishment again. Go eat sandwiches from some grease pit in Atlanta. If you have had any insight on history besides the normal American crap that was taught to you in school, you would have known that the French warned us about going into Vietnam, they were fighting on our side while the British were burning the White House. Go read a book. more

Worst Customer Service!!!!! 4/16/2010

Not only will I never go back to Douceur De France, but after receiving such rude service, I'll probably never go to a French restaurant again. \r \r I visited Douceur De France and ordered a sandwich to go. When attempting to pay for the $8.00 sandwich with my credit card, the French lady at the register rudely informed me there was a $10.00 minimum to pay with a credit card. \r \r I then offered a debit card. This French lady rolled her eyes, looked at me as if I were a disgrace to the human population and then pointed to the sign that said '$10.00 minimum credit charge'. (The sign was very small). \r \r All I was trying to do was buy a sandwich! My car was being repaired down the street (taking longer than expected) and I was not expecting to have to buy lunch that day.\r \r I will NEVER go into that restaurant again unless it's to inform this rude French lady about the details of World War II. Pros: didn't get a chance to eat! Cons: Rude Service! more

Excellent baked goods! 3/3/2010

It is a bit cramped and they need both a larger space and parking places. As you can tell, the food is great and I especially love the wide variety of baked goods-as close to France as you can get! Croissants were very good..the only place they may have been a bit more buttery, flakey and authentic was at the French Club, Club Med Paradise Island. Viva la France 11/26/2009

While visiting Marietta for the Thanksgiving holiday we discovered this wonderful gem. We immediately felt in love with the display cases showcasing the most delightful, delicate and delicious french pastries. We ordered couple of sandwiches like the Croque monsieur and Jambon beurre fromage. We also had an order of the Hash Browns ""A la Francaise"" (all I have to say is ""delicious"") you must try...for a later snack we ordered the pumpkin pie creme brulee.\r \r If you are visiting Marietta you must stop and experience a bit of France in the South Pros: great bake goods and sandwiches Cons: it can get expensive more

Fantastic 8/6/2008

This bakery makes the best pastries I have had, and I have been to bakeries all over the U.S. The chocolate tarte, and the fruit tarte are my personal favorites. But, eveything from the brioche to the chocolate logs are exquisite. The owners are also very nice, as are the rest of the staff. I highly, highly recommend this to anyone who is looking for a fantastic, authentic french pastry. Pros: Parking, Staff, Food more

I think that Douceur de France is one of the best bakeries in the neighborhood (and probably Metro Atlanta!). Living in Marietta for many years I did not hear about this lovely and very European cafe until now. Cafe food is absolutely amazing; it is very delicious, flavorful, and satisfying. It absolutely makes you want to come back for more. Also, the cafe has a large selection of decadent and wonderful cakes and their pastries and baguettes are an absolutely amazing addition to any breakfast! Pros: Food, Ambience, Parking more

A taste of France 6/22/2008

We took our French foreign exchange student for lunch and she loved it. Even the American employees spoke in French to her. The food is delicious and the pastries are beautiful. If only there had been more seating. Pros: lots of French speaking patrons - an endorsement in itself! Cons: small, not enough seating more

This might be best-kept secret in Marietta--absolutely the best pastries I've had outside of Paris. My Parisian friend swears this is the best French bakery within driving distance and I definitely agree. more

A Little taste of Paris 10/1/2004

Even though I live in Downtown Atlanta, I find myself at least once every two weeks making the trek to Marietta to visit this brilliant french patisserie. They are hands down the best bakery in Atlanta, and as close as you'll get to a bakery in Paris. It is definitely not in the most convenient location in Marietta, but I promise that it is well worth it. With wonderful crossaints, petit fours and French Roast coffee, along with the pleasant French family that owns the establishment, you will not be disappointed. Pros: Food, Service, Atmosphere more

The Best Pastries... EVER 5/6/2004

This place is plucked right out of France into the backyard of Marietta, GA. It's hard to believe, but it's true. Very true. Get whatever you want, it's soooo good, it's amazing. Almond croissants that melt in your mouth, eclairs baked fresh in the traditional French style (we're not talking cream filled donuts here!) Go buy and reward your taste buds.
