Live the life in Duluth 5/26/2004

Duluth offers an array of relaxing environments, including a park above Canal Park, that received an award for using space above the freeway. Fitger's Brewery Complex is amazing... shopping, dining, and hotel atmosphere. The Lake Walk is something to be appreciated -- along the way you will come across a Vietnam Memorial as well as other landmarks just waiting to be appreciated. Duluth is a MUST for relaxation and fun. If you like antiques there are also many possibilites waiting for you. Pros: Tranquil, Unique shopping, Shipping Industry Cons: , Book room ahead more

One of the Best Day Trips In Minnesota! 8/20/2002

A 2-1/2 hour drive from the Twin Cities is rewarded by a lovely visit to Canal Park in Duluth. It's a very pleasant venue for so many reasons which 150 words cannot begin to illuminate. Your day can be restful and romantic, educational and energetic. You can shop and sight-see, eat well then take a nap or hike. The pay-parking is dirt cheap, but there are free lots a few blocks away. There's a horse-drawn carriage and the US Army Corps of Engineers' Museum (which is free, by the way). One of my favorite activities is to buy a small box of popcorn from the charming popcorn wagon, then use it to feed the ever-present seagulls. They snatch the kernels right out of the air! It's the most entertaining $1 I ever spend. Canal Park is a great place to visit for families, couples, or those ""sailing solo"". Pros: Inexpensive, Good Parking, Lots to do! Cons: Best in summertime, Summer's short more

Long walks on the beach 8/11/2002

worth ""seaing"" 8/7/2002

Going to Canal Park is like going to the ocean, except there isn't any salt spray coming from the water. The sounds of the sea gulls or terns and the ships coming in remind me of being at the seashore. There are many attractions in Canal Park worth visiting such as the Mariner's Museum and the DeWitt-Seitz building where there are many shops to browse through. more
