My hair grows so quickly, I like to think I've become somewhat of an expert on hair cuts. It also helped having a best friend who owned her own boutique in my home town. There's just something cool about women that have their own straight razors who can also converse with you about any subject. So, I think it says a lot about a place like Groom that I often want to stop by on my drive home from work, past the salon, and hang out...even if I'm not getting a hair cut. When I do stop in for my haircut, I love listening to the arbitrary conversations, enjoying a beer and anticipating the shampoo and scalp massage.
Now, while the atmosphere at Groom makes it more of an event than a haircut...ultimately it's about the haircut. And, I've never been let down with the results. No matter if it's a 3-weeks too late landscaping or a clean up for a business trip, Theri, one of Grooms owners, always makes me look (and feel) better than when I walked in there!
I would be remiss if I didn't acknowledge some of the complaints in other reviews. I've never had an issue with customer service. If anything, they put up with my short notice and chronic tardiness. Just call and leave a message with your schedule on the voice mail and within a couple hours, you'll get a confirmation. If I arrive late, I'm always met with a smile and have never waited more than 10 minutes before I was in the shampoo chair.
If you are looking for a new place to get your haircut, Groom has to be a place for you to check out. Find out for yourself just how great an experience getting a haircut can be for a guy!
Pros: Atmosphere, Free Beer, Eye Candy, K9 Mascot
Cons: Hard to drink beer with head in shampoo bowl!
