Best place in milwaukee 11/7/2011

I moved to milwaukee about two years ago and had NO place to get my haircut. Since I'm particular about the way my hair is cut, i wasn't wiling to go to a ''super cuts'' or someplace similar to that. My sister had lived in milwaukee before me and told me about Groom. So...i took her advice and went. Honestly, this place is kick ass. there is NOTHING like it in milwaukee. I left exceptionally happy and.....groomed. Worth your while more

Groomed 12/29/2009

My hair grows so quickly, I like to think I've become somewhat of an expert on hair cuts. It also helped having a best friend who owned her own boutique in my home town. There's just something cool about women that have their own straight razors who can also converse with you about any subject. So, I think it says a lot about a place like Groom that I often want to stop by on my drive home from work, past the salon, and hang out...even if I'm not getting a hair cut. When I do stop in for my haircut, I love listening to the arbitrary conversations, enjoying a beer and anticipating the shampoo and scalp massage. Now, while the atmosphere at Groom makes it more of an event than a haircut...ultimately it's about the haircut. And, I've never been let down with the results. No matter if it's a 3-weeks too late landscaping or a clean up for a business trip, Theri, one of Grooms owners, always makes me look (and feel) better than when I walked in there! I would be remiss if I didn't acknowledge some of the complaints in other reviews. I've never had an issue with customer service. If anything, they put up with my short notice and chronic tardiness. Just call and leave a message with your schedule on the voice mail and within a couple hours, you'll get a confirmation. If I arrive late, I'm always met with a smile and have never waited more than 10 minutes before I was in the shampoo chair. If you are looking for a new place to get your haircut, Groom has to be a place for you to check out. Find out for yourself just how great an experience getting a haircut can be for a guy! Pros: Atmosphere, Free Beer, Eye Candy, K9 Mascot Cons: Hard to drink beer with head in shampoo bowl! more

OK cut but poor customer service 2/23/2009

Got a cut there recently and was mildly shocked. Interesting concept, nothing that I hadn't seen before in Milwaukee at the Men's Room or in Chicago. However, the stylists seemed harried and rushed. I was hassled about buying ""product"" several times. Reminded about extensive services offered at a premium price. Further I was informed that if I canceled an appointment without sufficient notice I would be charged half of whatever I was signed up for. Geesh! Hope my life never gets in the way of an appointment with these guys. Needless to say, it seems that they are more about protecting their bottom line with the cramped working spaces for the stylists, continual sales pitches for product and services. I would rather go to a place that wanted to give me a great cut than squeeze every last penny out of my and the stylist. Pros: excellent hours of operation Cons: haircut not that great, poor customer service more

Worth the ride 12/27/2008

I wanted to go to this place for a while now. Thought it would be uppity and snotty, but figured I'd give it a shot anyhow. Very cool. I felt right at home. Girls with trucker mouths tossing F-bombs around, but being very cool at the same time. The owner even seemed down to earth and I hear shes pretty renowned in the industry. I had an appointment and they called me and said that my girl was sick. So my wife asked if they could juggle things around and still get me in. They had a girl come in a little early just so they could keep me on. Then I was late because of traffic, and we called and told them. They were cool about that too. We were damn impressed, so my wife made brownies for them. Pricey, but worth it if your fussy about personal grooming. Girls are well schooled in old school haircutting. Marlo gave me the best haircut I ever had in my life. Shes only 21. (I had a gay guy compliment me on it. Awkward, but that's sayin something.) Mara the new girl is cool too. Sweetheart and handy with a straight razor. This place takes all kinds, not just hip city slickers. Im a bulldozer operator, mechanic, and an amateur boxer. I think theyre cool to everybody. Very impressed. Sine then I been taking my 5 year old son. The girls are all really cool to him. He likes playing with the owners dog. He comes away looking like a little man. Very cool. Pros: Professional but not uppity. All girls that only work on gu Cons: None more

Hungover & Spiteful = Sucky Haircut Run while there's time!! 11/4/2008

i HAD been getting my haircut there for like almost 10 years (since they were on Old World 3rd) Theri cut my hair like nobody else and I loved it. Pros: used to cut hair like nobody's business Cons: poor quality haircut and staff, don't listen to what u want. more

Talent A+....Random Dog Running Around....Free Beer...neck massage....need I say more. 7/29/2008

Okay, I would recommend my barbet, but then you might schedule with her and clog up all her time. I can't speak for the rest of the girls, but my Barbet has got talent. (Marlo is her name, but don't schedule with her...I mean it...she?s busy enough) Pros: Pretty Open Schedule for making appt's. (not overbooked) Cons: parking is street only I think, gotta pay the meter so bring change. more

Fantastic haircut, poor customer service 7/1/2008

Never Looked Better 5/25/2008

The reason I go to Groom for Men is simple, when I leave their shop I consistently look and feel better then when I walked in. I honestly can?t say that about any other barber I?ve ever had. I?m continually impressed that they can turn my ragged and indifferent style into much more than something only a mother could love. Pros: Modern classic hairstyles tailored specifically to the individual Cons: Could simplify pricing more

Thats harsh. 4/25/2008

I'm not one to go to a salon. I usually have a friend cut my hair. Today, I decided to give it a shot. Pros: Nice atmosphere and staff. Reasonable prices. Cons: Lack of understanding and creativity. more

Sweeny Todd 8/19/2006

Wasn't impressed with the straight razor shave, not close and the barber she did cut me. That'll teach me to stick my neck out. Gave me $5 off a $25 racket. more

Amazing! 11/28/2005

This place is a great modern barber with better service and style than the usual. Thanks. more
