Fox River Christian Church

I decided I wanted to start going to church because I'm in my thirties and my son is at an age where he can understand and really learn! After reading about many in the area, I picked this church to attend last weekend. Unfortunately I ended up leaving very upset and overwhelmed. The church is so large they had uniformed men directing traffic out of the parking lot from the service that had just let out; literally hundreds of cars in the parking lot! To me, the building looked like a small mosque. When I entered the building I explained to a greeter that I was new and needed to figure out what to do with my son and where everything was. He pointed me to a counter where two women were chatting. When I explained to them I was new, I was handed a map as they continued chatting. I felt very overwhelmed because the building was so large and it was 2 floors of chaos with hundreds of people packed in. I did find the daycare but was told that during the 3rd service the room for 5 year olds is closed and to bring him to the room for the age group below his. I know that kids have short attention spans but I was hoping that my son, who's in preschool, would get at least a few minutes of religious education, not play with 3 year olds and baby toys. We ended up leaving very disheartened. I haven't given up my search though and am hopeful to find a non-demoninational church in Milwaukee where they have the ability, and care enough, to help new people find their way and feel welcome. more

This is an amazing church that gives so much back to the community and offers a great experience every Sunday. Pastor Guy is an outstanding speaker that can really draw you in. The music is spectacular! We had to move away from the area, and have yet to find a church that even comes close to what Fox River offers. My own children just loved this place. Fox River was recommended to us by a teen! WOW Pastors messages truly helped me find God. Always visit at least 3 times if you are looking for a home church. Miss you Fox River... more

This church is great for people to hop back into their faith. I hadn't been attending church for years until my friend invited me to sit through an Easter service with her and I have been hooked ever since. The people are warm and friendly, and the messages are Bible based and address today's needs, problems, and struggles in life. I love the fact that they have childcare available for free for my two boys so they can play with kids their own age while I sit in service without one of them digging in my purse. The music is stuff you would hear on Klove on the radio, and well performed. I try to recommend this church to my girlfriends who are looking to get more out of life. You can finally leave church with a smile and refreshing attitude!! more

I have been attending this church for some time now, and I love the fact that the message can be applied to real life. The contemporary music they play at church is played on the local Christian stations and is easy to sing along with. With the combination of music, lights, video, and a meaningful, life applied message, you come out of the services energized. This isn't your parents church.. This isn't just a ""stand up, sit down, fight fight fight!"" routine that gets old, and you go because you have to. This church makes it feel more like an experience than a routine. You will make it a point to come to services. more

I thought I was at American Idol with the 'hot typical blonde' singing with spot light on her while the whole entire band was hidden in the dark. It was lame at best. I thought I was at a concert to be quite honest. The message was corny and watered down with nothing solid to it. This is the perfect 'rich guy' church. If you have NO PROBLEMS and everything is 'A OK' then go here. Because no one came up and said ANYTHING to me. I walked around like a complete jackass thee entire time I was their. And in my opinion it is the churches responsibility to make new comers feel welcome and NOT the other way around. I shouldn't have to go out of my way to make myself feel welcome in a new enviorment. that should have been Fox Rivers position. Maybe I didn't feel welcome to go into the next room. Maybe someone should have come up to me and PERSONALLY invited me? Ever think about that MEMBER? I guess not. You were too busy sipping your expensive Starbucks while talking to your narrow minded friends in the corner. you lost another one. YOUR FAULT! Not mine. Thanks again JERKS! P.S By the way. Instead of investing all of your money in yourselves for 'THE BEST' sound equipment and 'THE BEST' lighting equipment and a coffee shop. Why not take that money and invest it into your community? Invest it and give it to people who don't have a pot to piss in! Instead of on yourselves? Why not PRACTICE WHAT YOU PREACH? Idk, just a side note/thought for you to ponder. I understand the ladies point of view; however, as someone who knows the heart of the church, that's not the case. The opening song is meant to be just that, a welcome. It's not intended to be sung along with. You're welcome to, as always, which is why they put up the lyrics. But it's usually a new song, so the congregation doesn't know it yet. The large screens usually have lyrics on them, as we have a large auditorium and obstructed view without multiple screens. They do sometimes show people's faces, but it's usually to show the worship going on, not to glorify the person, but to show you they are glorifying God. I'm really sorry these people didn't enjoy the worship. I really hope that if you come and have a bad experience you would feel free to speak to someone on staff about your concerns. I can assure you that the hearts of the worship team are rejoicing God and praising Him. If you prefer quieter music, it may not be the place for you. I personally love it, and if you do, great! more

Well we went to visit this church today for the first time and we were not impressed. My husband is 29 and I am 31 (so you know who this is coming from) The Sermon was GREAT but the music was not good at all. The first song seemed all about the band on stage. The congregation was sitting and just watched. My 9 year old son looked at me like What the heck is going on! The song belonged at a Christian rock concert not church. Don't get me wrong I love Contemporary Worship and use to sing on our praise team but this to me did not seem God Glorifying. They even have 2 huge screens that just showed close ups of the singers and guitar players like you would see at a rock concert. They also have lights that flow around them and the crowd like a rock concert. The Lead pastor seemed great but I will not go there again because of the music. It is way to loud and you just get distracted by all the stuff that's in front of you. To each his own, I know but if you want a God Church that's all about God and not about the Band on stage then this is not the church for you. You can find better.
