Can't rate the foold, becuase we 6/6/2012

Can't rate the foold, becuase we couldn't get served - a horrible customer experience. My wife and I travel US2 (to/from the Chelan area) on average three out of four weekends a month. We don't always stop, but when we do it is generally to get something to eat (usually around dinner time). We've stopped in the Sultan Bakery before and was impressed with the sandwiches. So, this past Sunday we left Chelan late enough that we knew we would probably want to stop somewhere to eat dinner on the way home. As it turns out we decided to stop at the Sultan Bakery. It was just past 7:00pm and we were famished and looking forward to one of their home cooked meals. After ordering our food we settled in at a table and waited, ...and waited, ...and waited. After a while we noticed that virtually everyone that was in line with us as well as those who came in after us was being served. I kept making eye contact with the hostess as she brought out food for other patrons thinking she knew we were there and would certainly be checking on us or with the Kitchen. Finally, after 40 minutes and after the couple next to us was served their food (and who came in at least 15 minutes after us) I asked the young man who was serving them if our order was on its way. His response was ""sorry, but it is just me and one other person in the kitchen"" and walked away. In the meantime the hostess is walking around chit chatting with the other patrons, serving meals and basically ignoring us. After a few more minutes, my wife and I got up, walked over to the cash register and asked for our money back. She smiled at us and said; ""Oh, did they not serve you yet?"" I said; ""no, and we can not wait any longer"". She said; ""Ok, sorry about that"", opened the cash register and handed me the exact cash amount that I paid (obviously knowing what we had ordered) and nothing further was said. By this time it was nearing 8:00pm, we were hungry and tired and felt very unwelcomed. In fact, we were both quite upset about the whole affair. I can't remember the last time we were treated so shabbily by any establishment we have patronaged. I can't imagine what the problem was that the hostess had with us, other than maybe the fact that we were probably the only non-locals in there at the time (at least I presume that because the hostess seemed to know everyone else by name). At any rate, the experience was so bad and upsetting I doubt we will ever step foot in the Sultan Bakery again. more

Great food but the service from one is questionable...... 12/16/2008

Great food but the middle aged latino lady is very rude. Everyone else is great even the young students they have serving and bussing. We are in every weekend for the breakfast and praying we dont see her but, shes there. Even after we and others have complained. I agree with the other comment that they need to hold firm to the schedule. Sometimes breakfast will be off the menu early, not at 12:00 noon. If the service from the latino lady was better, I would have no complaints at all. I would recommend this Bakery to anyone, just hope you do get the older white haired lady, shes the best! Pros: The best breakfasts around. Cons: Tables and the latino lady. more

Yummy!!! Yummy!! Their home made bread and raspberry jam is to die for. 11/21/2008

I have been to the Bakery only for breakfast. No matter what time I get there its always crowded, difficult to park, BUT.....The food is worth it. Cheap, good and very filling. I have always been treated very well, and they always make sure that we get seated as soon as possible, even moving people over to accomodate. Which I would oppose normally but I drive a long ways to get there and I'm not leaving without eating. Pros: excellent food and worth the wait Cons: parking, waiting in a line more

The bakery is one eating area that i will never forget and i highly recommend it to anyone who has any sense of taste. It is the heart of sultan and the most healthy place to eat for miles. Pros: great healthy great soup bread doughnuts Cons: needs more help more

Great food and prices...atmosphere lacking 11/11/2007

Sultan Bakery has some of the best food in the area! Their baked goods are divine. Breakfasts (huge!), Lunch, and Dinner are great. The only time the food was a little off was when I ordered the scallops, prawns, and salmon dish?.all were battered and fried, and I expected a little more home-style than that. However, their breakfast sandwiches are huge and yummy! The dining experience is a little awkward. Enter through the right door, which puts you in the cattleshoot to get your own coffee or tea. Then look over the pastries while deciding what to order from the menu boards. The atmosphere feels like a deli or takeout place...it could be a much warmer home-like experience. But the food keeps us all coming back! It's a favorite of the locals and a frequent stop for those going through the Pass. All in all, you gotta try it...you'll be back for the amazing food! more
