The worst tasting and most expensive for nothing cake 4/11/2012

I wasn't going to post this but since i didn't even get a e-mail back i felt it needed to be posted. I will not be posting a picture of the buzz lightyear cake to this website. It was very disappointing expecially for what i paid for. I had said i wanted buzz lightyear to be the star of the cake and big where he was sitting on the top cake with his legs haning down like he was siting on a set of stairs. The cake was a huge disappointment and even though i held it together at the shop i wanted to cry. I had no other choice but to buy the cake otherwise i would have just left it. Two adults tried the cake and 2 children. The adults said that the marshmellow fondant was disgusting. So no one ate the $145.00 cake. The cupcakes were tiny and so much smaller then the cheaper cupcakes at farmfresh. What sucks is the one's at farmfresh tasted better and were eatten and the one's i paid almost $3.00 for were wasted. I'd have to say that i will never do something like this again. The buzz lightyear on top of the cake and the fondant everyone said tasted stale. My son who's bday it was spit out the buzz and cake. Also there was a piece of styrofoam at the top of the cake that two kids tried to eat. I didn't know styrofoam would even be on a cake. Very disappointed and hate to have wasted money. more

Horrible Construction and Lackluster Taste 10/31/2009

The quality of the cake we ordered from Custom Cake Shoppe was absolutely horrible. We ordered an extremely simple cake design- a three-tiered cake made of buttercream with red, silver and white fondant ""balls"" embedded in the cake and protruding from wires randomly. Our wedding was on Sunday, so they had the cake ready for us to pick up on Saturday at 2pm, since they are not open on Sundays. When we picked up the cake, there were multiple construction issues. The balls were irregularly shaped and some were actually flattened on one side. They were also poorly sprayed and therefore unevenly colored. It looked like a 6-year old had decorated our wedding cake. Actually, I have seen toddlers make more spherical balls out of Play-Doh- it was unacceptable and completely disappointing... Worst of all, though- the top tier had formed a fissure and was literally LEANING to one side. We had to carefully BRACE the top tier of the cake as we transported it, lest it topple to the floor of the vehicle. When I called to ask them what to do about the cake five minutes after we left, they had already closed. What a horrifying experience! We chose this place because their price was lower ($228) than their competition (avg-$350). Also, the cake was dry and grainy- nothing like the samples we tried. It looked and tasted like a rush job. We now regret our decision. It was a miracle that our hideous cake did not topple over, at least. Pros: Slightly Lower Price Cons: Awful Construction and Bad Taste, Inconvenient Hours more
