Crosspointe Animal Hospital KILLED Basie the Corgi 12/1/2011

I will not be returning to this hospital. Crosspointe Animal Hospital killed Basie the Corgi 3 hours after a stranger (a client of Crosspointe) took her from her yard and brought her into the hospital. The ""stranger"" was a retired vet tech who ""believed"" it was time to put down this 17-year-old dog so she took her from her yard, concocted a story about finding this ""stray"" dog wandering the streets and who ""appeared"" severely injured and then brought her into Crosspointe. It should be noted that this ""stranger"" took Basie across county lines to her vet (Crosspointe Animal Hospital). Basie's owner had been taking pictures of her in the yard and decided to let her play in the yard and get a little exercise and fresh air and when he came back 15 minutes later to check on Basie, she was gone. This is from a news story done by WUSA 9 in DC: ""A staff person at Crosspoint Animal Hospital told 9News Now that they were acting on instructions from the Fairfax County Animal Shelter when they euthanized the dog. But the Fairfax County Police Department, which oversees Animal Control, says the shelter would never give that advice. Officer Shelly Broderick says the decision to euthanize, was the veterinarian's alone."" So why did Crosspointe lie about ""acting on instructions from the Fairfax County Animal Shelter"" when the Police said they didn't? Why? Because Crosspointe realized they screwed up and wanted to try and put ""their"" spin on the story. Crosspointe even went so far as to add a link on their web site's home page where they fabricated a story about how sick Basie was and how they ""thought"" it would be in the ""best"" interest of the dog to put it down. There's no way they could have mistaken Basie for a stray as she was very clean and had recently had her nails done. And while Basie didn't have her collar on (according to the owner: ""He had taken her collar off because it bothered her""), had she not been taken from the yard then removing the collar to make Basie more comfortable wouldn't have been a problem. If you're looking for kind and compassionate vets then you've come to the wrong place. more
