Worst job ever 12/13/2011

This is the absolutely worst job I have ever had. They make you go to a training class unpaid for 72 hours, then you get to meet Mr. Cooper, the "scheduler" he gives you your initial schedule then from on CBI dispatch proceeds to give it to you every Thursday by phone. My complaints are: the training is unpaid as is the cost of uniforms. They charge you $100 paid over the period of 4 checks all $25 deductions. The name badge is $8 and that comes off of your first check. Being full-time, you would expect being given 40hrs, but that didn't happen. The first 2 weeks I got 40 hours and I was perfectly fine with it, then all of a sudden, the 3rd week I got the call and was working 20 hours. Hearing this I freaked out. It took 3 days for Cooper to get back to me and he didn't have a good reason. I got a few calls that brought me up to 38 hours. I got shorted on hours yet again. I complain again and he increases my hours to 30. I wasn't too worried about that, so I just went with it. Now, I was told to stop in before I went to my site at Lone Rock. I found out that it was 2 hours away in the middle of nowhere just past Tooele and North of Dugway. Once I saw how long the trip was, I inquired if I were to be taking a CBI Patrol car out there; I got told no. I asked if CBI was going to be paying for my gas out there; I got told only when the production company pays me for it. I told him that I was not getting paid enough to have to travel half way across the state and that I needed to be paid in advance to go to that site, at least the gas money needed. He again told me no and that I needed to go to the site. I told him that I was not going out there without gas money unless I was going out in a patrol car. He told me that if I couldn't take this shift to stop complaining about not having enough hours. Ok, this is where I am pissed off. So I told him that I will take the hit on hours that week, but for future reference, I can not travel that far without some sort of compensation for it. Now lets map this out: I work for $9/hr. I work for 12 hours = $108. I have a 1994 Isuzu Rodeo which costs $55 to fill the tank completely. $108-$55 = $53 left. Now, this is is for a 1-way trip. Now if I were to drive round trip as required to get there and back home, I would use approximately a tank 1/2 of gas. Now to add this up: $55/2 = $22.50 $50 + $ 22.50 = $72.50 in gas money needed to get down there. Does this sound right? I didn't think so. So I am literally paying 3/4 of what I am making for the night all in just getting there and back. Come on now, I have bills to pay guys, I can't afford that trip! Not even just bills, but a wife and a baby...there is no way! This week I was given 20 hours again. I am so fed up with this job, I would never recommend it to anyone, CBI is driving me under - as if it weren't for not getting paid enough anyway, now I don't have hours!! There's no excuse for this. Don't apply or work for these guys, not worth it. Even if you want to go armed, $10/hr and they still short you enough on hours that you might as well be making $9 an hour. This is a terrible company and not deserving of me even giving 2 weeks. Once I have a guaranteed job, I am going to drop CBI - no 2 weeks notice, just going to quit on the spot. Tired of them, tired of Cooper. There are a lot of good people getting screwed with this company, a lot of them that shave and are properly groomed, that come to work with a clean pressed uniform and aren't given recognition in any way. Aren't given hours, given crappy job sites and having to pay to get out to these places. If you really want to do security out in Utah, go with Metro or Securitas - don't give CBI the pleasure of screwing you over. Thanks for reading this long review and hopefully it will help some people out. more

CBI Security/ New Hire 5/27/2011

I have just recently been hired as a new Security Officer for CBI Security. I am looking forward to my new employment. I really appreciate reading the positive comments about CBI Secuirty. I am sorry for the comments that were negative. I have meet with Jayson Cooper and Lorraine Kapp. They seem to very nice and willing to go the extra mile to help out new employees. They seem to have more on the ball than other Security companies that i have applied with in the Salt Lake City area, Allan Ray Peterson more

Crap company. 10/19/2009

If Greg was well enough to see how these idiots are running his pride and joy into the ground they would be fired. I dont know about you but when I hire a armed security officer I get what I pay for. At 16 Dollars an hour you can get a well groomed in shape well trained security officer. For CBI's 9 dollars an hour you can get a 80 year old man with a walker and cat hair all over his clothes. Yes CBI has a handfull of good officers but the large number of crappy officers that shouldnt be in a uniform let alone carry a fire arm tips the scale. If you think that CBI is just the greatest talk to the guys at Union Pacific they will tell you different. Pros: Greg Valdez Cons: Bob Anderton more

I UNDERSTAND 7/20/2009

RUDE people who exploit employees with lies redundant but required training and NO cecern for employee safety. 2/23/2009

WARNING!avoid these people at all costs! they waste your time with all kinds of required and redundant training then even though I was promised hours when I was called in for training, I was fired for refusing to accept a very dangerous assignment -alone in a wilderness area around snow basin with no phone, no restroom, AND NO SHELTER FROM 10 degree weather OR winter storms They asked me if if would work in Ogden-I accepted-then CBI informed me LATER it was at SnowBasin ski resort where I would be lucky not to freeze at night. these people are very rude with NO concern for potential employees time- I wasted over 20 hours there on 6 differrent trips and got absolutely nothing from these creeps!I I also spent hundreds of dollars on equipment for firearms and other training -which I was told I could go through but was told when I still worked for them -the day before the training was to begin that I would not be allowed to take the armed security class. This was BEFORE I discovered the truth about the bogus job at snow basin and turned down that totally suicidal assignment where I was in grave danger of dying of exposure! AVOID THESE RUDE CREEPS AT ALL COSTS !THEY LIE YOU < IGNORE YOU, make you spend hundreds of dollars on equipment for training classes THEN conjure up insane assigments like spending three 13 hour shifts AT NIGHT==6-pm until 7 am next day at the top of a mountain in winter snowstorms with NO shelter other than your own car on a forest service road with questionable access in the night-especially in a snow storm like is happening right now and is expectd to continue past this weekend. ie of the rudeness was told to come to ASP handcuff and pepper spray class. was not told what they think ASP means--to me that means a snake-a model plane motor brand or a software system--NOT a collapsable night stick. I was turned away when I brought a full sized night stick for TRAINING and treated like a fool Pros: none unless you like to spend money on equipment and worthless training then not get any hours Cons: very rude-lie to applicants -make them wastre money and time on redundant and worthless training more

CBI Security SLC, Utah 9/11/2008

I have worked for CBI Security in SLC, Ut for 9 years and it is the best company I have ever worked for. The CEO and the upper management are awesome. They do offer benefits for the full time employees and it is up to the Officer on how fast they want to do their training (after the required training) that is offered thru CBI in order to climb the corporate ladder. Every year CBI sends out b-day cards, Christmas card and gift to their employees. Upper management has always let their employees know what a great job they are doing(unless you are not then you are also told) CBI has alot of different accounts that offers an oppurtunity for different people. CBI also does the movies that are filmed in Utah and city along with private events. CBI is also family oriented. I would recommed CBI Security to anyone who is willing and ready to learn what real security is about it is a rewarding job. CBI also has a wonderful training program with a knowledgeable trainer. Pros: Everything if you like to work Cons: Nothing more

Terrible Company to work for... 9/25/2007

CBI Phoenix is the worse run security company I have dealt with. They are appathetic about their employees and ignorant of the TRUE meaning of security. With over 20 years in Law Enforcement and almost 10 in Security, I worked for them for about 9 months and had to move on. Of the orginal 20 hired in Arizona, there are 3 left and the company hasn't been here for 12 months! Make up your own mind about hiring this company or hiring on, there are your asset's and life! Pros: it's a job ... if you need it Cons: low pay, no benefits, appathetic employeer more
