Dr Banister performed a lumbar laminectomy for lower back pain with nerve pain in both buttocks extending down both legs into the heels.
The pain had gradually worsened over a period of three years finally resulting in my inability to walk in a store or bend over without severe pain. It would also start upon laying down and prolonged sitting. Frequently, I would wake up in such pain in my upper leg, that I was afraid to move for fear it would worsen. I was on hydrocodone 10/650mg, muscle relaxers, antidepressants, neurtontin, and sleep aids.
Life became a roller coaster of going to work (in fear of hurting myself and making the pain worse), then resting on my off days to decrease the pain caused by work so I could return to work. I could participate in none of my leisure activities, or housework (of course I was happy to give up the housework).
IMMEDIATELY AFTER SURGERY MY PAIN WAS COMPLETELY GONE!!! Dr Banister always took the time to sit down with me, listen to how I was doing, and explain the next step or options. The complete lack of pain with NO pain meds lasted until I began incorporating weights in physical therapy. Dr Banister was aggressive in attempting to locate the returned source of pain, but all tests showed no indication for further surgery.
If surgery was required again, I would have returned to him in a heart beat.
In addition, his entire staff is caring and personal. I will miss all of them.
Pros: Generally on time appointments, pleasant comfortable office, great staff
Cons: Takes a month or more to see him as a new patient.
