Spoiled Friday Night Dinner at Bangkok Cuisine=Thai Passion 3/22/2008

I and my sweet heart were about to have a fantastic Friday night dinner. We were passing by the Bangkok Cuisine (present Thai Passion) and decided to go in to try it -why not? The place looked nice-elegant, white starched table cloth, but.... there were very few people. This was the first sign of bad luck which was about to arrive. The waitress was very indifferent and uninterested in being friendly with us. The firepot of soup we ordered was nothing more than lemongrass flavored thin water with lots of uncooked coarsely chopped onions and tough pieces of white chicken flesh. We ordered the entree consisting of grilled beef, tons of uncooked coarsely chopped onions and lettuce. Where in the world did one see grilled beef which was very tough and looked very pale like a corps-NO COLOR!!!! It tasted terrible!! Asian cuisine is famous for its bright attractive colors and flavorful spicy taste- forget about this in Thai Passion-you will not find it there... On top of it, both of us had upset stomach and spoiled evening afterwards. One must look for real great quality Thai food elsewhere, perhaps Houston or New York... more

Strongly Recommended. 1/19/2007

I have been eating here for a long time and love this place. I have probably had the lunch buffet 30 times and have never been disappointed. There is always something different rotating in. My favs are the pad thai, chicken, fish, red and green curries and the fried spinach. The soup is always good too. Also they make a black sticky rice with coconut milk for dessert which has just the right sweetness with a touch of saltiness. Very, very good for lunch. And honestly, I hate buffets because they tend to be quantity over quality and get left out and soggy or dry. Not so with Bangkok! Pros: Quality and variety of thai dishes. Cons: None. more

THe Best Pad Thai! 1/14/2003

I will definitely return here. The service was attentive and courteous, and the food was great. We had the chicken sate, chicken fried rice, and pad thai. Especially good were the peanut and cucumber sauces with the sate, and the best pad thai i've had in austin. For ambience, keep in mind it is in a strip mall. more
