The Pit is a low-ceiling smoky affair. Perfect for authentic barbeque --- excellent brisket and sausage. Great sauce. Good sides ? potato salad and beans. You are offered a choice of white bread or wheat bread. Even if you are a ?granola chomper? (I am), barbeque is best with out-of-the bag white bread. The Pit is one of the few places in town (and you have to be a native Texan to get this one) that has an ice maker that produces shaved ice. It makes those soft drinks oh so perfect. Peach cobbler and banana pudding are above average.
