The Chinese Star is a good dining choice if you are at or around the UH main campus area. It is not a fancy place, so for people who want or need an elegant atmosphere this is not a place to go to 'feel special' and certainly not really a place to take a woman on a date. Personally, I appreciate a restaurant that provides consistently good food for a very reasonable price (not to mention the portion sizes, which are very generous). Basically, you place your order at the counter and are given a ticket number... and the order will be out very, very quickly.
Most everything I've had there is very good. I do not particularly care for the General Tso's chicken of all things, which is a bit too far on the sour side for my taste (same for the sesame chicken). Also, the mu shoo pork is usually good, but I would not order it when the place is busy because every time I've done so it is not very hot when it comes out - presumably because it takes extra time to roll the food in the thin pancakes and probably gets sidelined until there is extra time to get to it.
