Editorial review from Citysearch 3/28/2013

Changed a lot over the years. Waitresses and waiters used to hula hoop on the tables and even let my then 6 year old join in which she got a big kick out of. Food is still pretty good. Lunch specials are okay. more

Too expensive for bad food 7/6/2009

Just moved to Murfreesboro and I heard that Toot's was a place to go, but I heard that it was not as good as it used to be. Walked in and the atmosphere was neat, and it looked fun. By the time we sat down, we were bumped by two employees who could not say ""excuse me,"" and no one spoke to us at all.\r \r Menu had a great selection and the prices were good.\r \r Server was pretty, but not friendly. The food was cold and the french fries were cooked in old oil giving them a grey appearance. However, when I got my check, it was $43 for 2 adults and 2 kids. I was shocked!! They cahrge for side dishes, extra ranch dressing (this one really made me mad since they forget it and had to bring it out after I was done eating). I am surprised they did not watch me use the salt shaker and charge me per shake. Pros: Pretty girls, good menu Cons: Nothing included, not friendly, will not return more

Good Atmosphere! Great Daily Specials! 2/5/2009

Wednesday is my favorite day at Toots: 3.99 Chicken Finger Basket Day! Everyday they have daily lunch specials and the food is always hot and fresh whenever I have gone during lunch. The servers have been quick and attentive most of my visits. The fun and friendly atmosphere is what keeps me coming back weekly. I am a regular at Toots!! Pros: quick food service Cons: long wait times more

Stuff You Only Eat When You're Drinking 10/13/2007

Toots is by far one of the worst restaurants I've ever been to. It's fried foods and burgers. I enjoy a good burger, but these are average. Even the fries are soggy and frozen-tasting. My boyfriend ordered ribs, which tasted like they had been re-heated. I know it's not meant to be an upscale restaurant, but the food resembles stuff you'd buy in the frozen section of the grocery store and cook after a night out at the bars. The wait staff are mostly college kids who you have to ask to refill your drink. I would never eat there again. Pros: Cheap Prices Cons: Bad food, dirty, and bad wait staff more

Non-Smoking, poor Burgers 8/11/2007

last visit on 8-10-2007\r I am speaking only of the restaurant in Smyrna, which by the way is voluntarily completely smoke free. I like a good grill burger, old fashioned. The first burger I had there years ago was fantastic, every one since then has been undercooked. I have sent back to the kitchen 3 burgers and I won't be doing it again. I won't be going back. The waitresses are okay with service on the front end, but seem to forget to ever come back, even for payment. I am a non-smoker who prefers a smoking restaurant because the patrons are generally less a--hole to other patrons. Non smokers are self-righteous! But Toot's still have the crazy smoking fans going full blast-felt like I was in a wind tunnel. Not impressed and not going back. Pros: Non-smoking, if you like that sort of thing Cons: Burger never cooked all the way, never! more

Not as good as it used to be 5/26/2007

I used to eat here in college, and I loved it!! I moved away and came back to a nearby town. I was excited to go to it again, and I eagerly drove the 25 minutes to the restaurant. It was horrible. However, I thought I would give it a second try, as everyone has a bad day. It was even worse. The food has changed. The onion rings used to be hand breaded like the menu says. They are still hand breaded, but the breaded when the hand touches the machine ata factory far away. The food had freezer burn. Their food used to be fresh.\r \r Service both times was average at my table, but try and get them to speak to you when you walk in or as you pass them. It is not going to happen. The servers used to be pretty, but they look quite bad. You cannot all look like Jessica Alba, so don't wear shorts like she can. I do not want to see the cellulite at the back of your thighs.\r \r Atmosphere is the same, even though their has been some remodeling since I came here last. \r \r The worst was the pricing. Toot's used to be affordable. For me and a friend, we spent over thirty dollars on two entree's with fries an appetizer and soft drinks. I can get this at a ""nice"" restaurant. \r \r I wish I knew what happened here.\r Pros: Used to be good, maybe its me. Cons: Food, pricing more

Good beer bar, but not good restaurant 5/19/2007

After reading the reviews, I disagree with most of them. \r \r To be fair, I go to Toot's frequently during football season as it is a great place to look at the girls, drink beer and watch the game. The atmosphere is great! The smoke does not bother me. However, it is not a place to take my family to eat dinner nor a place I would eat real food besides the wings and fried pickles.\r \r The burgers are boring, the fried foods are what you can get anywhere. The place is a little dirty, but I think it adds to the charm. The other food is pretty gross, but edible.\r \r Service is great to look at, (not quite as good as the ""other wing place with the owl on the sign""), but not always friendly. The bartneders are very friendly, but the managers and the servers are not. \r \r If I were to go out, I would not pick Toot's unless I was going to watch the game.\r \r City search is wrong with entree's $5 and under. They have two entree's under $5 and one of these is hot dogs. They are 7-9$ without side dishes. Pros: Great beer bar Cons: Service, food more

Family friendly? Best burgers? You must be smoking something... 5/18/2007

This is one of the largest overrated restaurants in Middle Tennessee. Toot's tells you they are family friendly, yet the owner has been on channel 4 and channel 2 talking about how he wants his restaurant to be all smoking- He even says it on his website. He talks about the ""healthy atmosphere"" Is this the secondhand smoke or the fried foods? The servers wear shorts shorts that many times show part of their cheeks- not the ones on their face. This is probably why they have been sued by the EEOC for sexual harassment (See Cookeville Herald- April 8, 2007). Just because you give kids balloons and have a few (I mean few) video games doesn't make it family friendly. \r \r Burgers- best in town- are you kidding me? Even the Murfreesboro Post- the local newspaper rated it 4th a week ago! On top of that, everything is a la carte. Do you think you are Ruth Chris or Mortons? Whoever heard of a burger without fries! Much of the food has recently changed where it is not homemade anymore. \r \r The only redeemable thing about Toot's is the Iguana.\r \r Pros: Iguana Cons: no non-smoking, overpriced as a meal, servers not family friendly more

Great Service! 3/20/2007

Awesome restaurant! Great service and nothing like a chain restaurant. We were there for TSSAA for the second time and this is definitley the place in Murfressboro to eat. Absolutely the best food and service we have ever had. Great chicken fingers and BBQ Ribs and everybody loved the Cheeseburgers too. Hats off to TOOT'S. Pros: Service more

A family favorite 3/11/2007

I love the fried dill pickles. They are the best I've had anywhere! The service is usually good, and any time I have had to complain, it has been taken care of promptly. If you like mixed drinks, go elsewhere. The daquiri's are small and are not cheap. The rueben is my favorite, but I also enjoy the chili burger, and the boneless wings. This is a good place to have a beer and enjoy some traditional ""bar food"". Kids love it too, they can check out the iguana or play video games while they wait for their food. Best part, kid's hot dog trays are always free. If your kids don't eat hot dogs check out the website where you can download coupons for other kids meals for free. The daily specials are always a steal. Never had a problem in Murfreesboro, but the Smyrna location can have a long wait to get seated at times. Pros: fun place, family friendly Cons: long waits at the Smyrna location more

Great wings and raw oysters 10/30/2006

Fun college atmosphere. Excellent raw oysters, fried oysters, frieg frog legs, and buffalo wings. Friendly service. Pros: Great selection of seafood. College atmosphere Cons: Can be crowded. more

Great Food! 10/23/2003

In my opinion, Toot's has the best dill pickle chips and chicken wings around. I really like the family-oriented sports bar atmosphere, although I agree that there should be a non-smoking section. I consider Toot's to be a family version of Hooter's, only with MUCH better food! I've mostly been during dinner hours and the wait is very reasonable. Also, the employees have always been very friendly and always on their toes. Overall, I highly recommend Toot's and give them a rating of 9 on a scale of 1-10 (need smoking section). Pros: food, price, atmosphere Cons: smokey more

revised opinion of Toots 9/26/2003

quote previous reviewer:\r I am a non-smoker who prefers a smoking restaurant because the patrons are generally less a--hole to other patrons. Non smokers are self-righteous! \r \r Just be sure I read the comments correctly:\r quote:\r ""I am a non-smoker"" ....""Non smokers are self-righteous!""\r \r Anyway, the place is non-smoking now - a change for the better.\r The wings still aren't as good as you might think...they were just o.k.\r Atmosphere was good. Service was average. Prices were average.\r Somebody else in our group got a bacon-chesse-burger and said it was really good.\r \r Pros: *** Non-smoking now !!!! *** GOOD!!! Cons: Most other things average. more

Ribs and Wings!! 9/27/2002

The best ribs, wings, and fried dill pickel chips around!! Pros: Price, Food, Entertainment Cons: Noise more

Hooter's? What's that? 9/25/2002
