Gail's Hair House

Jamie at Gail's Hair House did my hair for my wedding. I barely had an idea of what I wanted. I showed Jamie a picture and she exceeded my expectations. I had a million things going on and was totally stressed, like any bride would be, and she talked to me about my new husband and things that took my mind off the stresses. Above all, when my hair was finished I truly felt like a princess. My hair was so beautiful and stayed perfect even until the next day. I posted a picture but it doesn't even give it justice on the incredible job she did. I was very sad to hear Gail's would be closing but thrilled to know that Jamie is still doing hair. Getting the perfect stylist is like going to the doctor. ONCE YOU GET A GOOD ONE STAY WITH THEM! I wish all the ladies from Gail's best wishes because you ladies is what keep us women in Hendersonville looking good. ;) more

JA1234, I agree with you 100%! I went there one time and during my whole visit the stylist ""schizophrenic"" son (her title, not mine) was there. He kept glaring at her, glaring at me and it gave me the CREEPS! She kept talking about all the weird things he did and how she couldn't marry her longtime boyfriend because of the son. Then she bragged about how I was ""lucky"" to get an appointment with her since most new clients go to the new girls and she is just so good that I would never make it to her chair. I think she wanted me to get out of the chair and kiss her feet in reverence. The place is old, out dated and EXPENSIVE. $180.00 for something I pay $110.00 for now with better results and ATMOSPHERE! The positive reviews/rebuttals have to be written by the women who work there or their old biddy friends for this place is NOT what they claim. more

STAY AWAY! If you walk in and look at these women's hair and skin, you can judge what they'll do to yours: wrinkly, orange-skinned ""beauticians"" with Halloween-wig hair of their own, which would be kind of funny in October. It's December. And they're all sweaty and smoky. Sweaty from what I don't want to even guess. \r \r But I was desperate and, against my better judgment, sat in the chair. On top of the outrageous cost for shoddy work--wrong cut, wrong color--a blow-drying before walking out into December freeze will cost you $20 (for ""styling""). Nice. I got home to find a ring of dye on my face. If your ""beautician"" looks like she should be on ""Intervention"", trust your gut and live with your roots another day. The other reviews say they treat you ""like family"", which I guess is code for unprofessional in a dirty salon.\r more

I have been going to Jamie at Gail's Hair House in Hendersonville for five years now. She is by far the best colorist I have ever been to. My color has always been spot-on and my hair cuts are always picture perfect. There have been times when I've wanted a change but wasn't sure what I wanted, and Jamie has been incredible. She listens and understands what I want and need. When I've told her that I want something different, just not sure what, I have walked out of there absolutely thrilled with the end result! I have never gotten a cut or color that just wasn't me. She truly gets me and that is really important when you're trusting someone with dye and a pair of scissors! The whole experience at Gail's is amazing. The environment is relaxed and you feel like you're amongst friends. This is a great place for the entire family! more

Although Glenda is the only one who has done my hair, I must give everyone a 5 star rating. They are all very friendly and I feel like I am among friends.\r I highly recommend this salon. more

I am so happy I found Gail's Hair House and especially Jamie! My hair is hard to handle with severe cowlicks but she makes it look easy, totally understands, gives great advice on styling, AND knows what I'm talking about when sometimes I'm not very clear (something like ""my face is sort of square so I don't want square hair"" - she gets that!). I had moved and was going to another place and always had to touch it up (snip some) myself, no more...never again. If I live within 200 miles I will always go to Jamie! Oh, I have to say too, my last ""touch up"" I did myself didn't go very well and I thought it'd have to be cut pretty short to fix it but it didn't because I went back to Jamie and she fixed it beautifully! :-) I'm in my forties, have lived in big cities and small, and she is my favorite stylist ever. I have been getting my hair cut at Gail's for several years now. Debi does a fantastic job at understanding my hair - which is thick, wavy and has a number of cowlicks. She is quick to point out that she may not agree with me and make suggestions, but it is done with humor and she is not offended if I say ""no let's do it my way."" I usually follow her advice though, because I know that the end result will be fantastic.\r \r I'm growing out my hair and I admit I avoided Debi for a few months until the length was established because I had left it short for so many years and we had discussions about growing it out before. But, when it became unruly - there is no one else I would go to to bring it back into line. And when it's long enough for locks of love we'll take it back to short.\r \r I even have all the men in my family going to Gail's. My husband loves the special attention and my son just entrusted his long locks to Jamie when he was ready to go back to short hair. Jamie made him feel like he'd made a contribution because she pony tailed his hair so it could be donated as well. The guys were not sure about going to a TRUE SOUTHERN BEAUTYSHOP, but they love it now. They are treated like family. \r \r It may not have the sophistication of some upscale salon where they hand you a glass of chardonay and a fluffy robe, but I wouldn't trade being treated like family for a few frou-frous. \r Pros: Skillful cut, family fun, gotta love Ms. Gail, great service! I moved here from Florida and was in desperate need of a hair cut. I had gone by Gail's Hair House many times and wondered if it would be a good place to get my hair done. After looking at the reviews in city search I decided to give it a try and I am so glad I did. I got in the same day I called and the staff was very friendly. In fact they made me feel like I had been going there for years. I highly recommend Jamie, great stylist and very personable. I am very picky about my hair as most of us gals are and she did a great job. I will definately be going back. Pros: Great location, plenty of parking and friendly staff more

I'm so excited about Gails! I went in and got my hair cut by Kristi she is awesome! she really listened to me! It's so hard to find a stylist that listens. I have gotten so many compliments on my hair!! Also they are having this contest, where the client that sends the most referals gets $1500 in cash and prizes!! And the stylist that gets the most referals gets a 2 day trip to Gatlinburg. So call and make an appointment with Kristi 615-822-7092 You won't be sorry, she really is awesome. I just recently had my first visit to Gail's, and I have to say I'm hooked. Kristi was my stylist, and I have to admit, when she told me it was her first week there, I was a little nervous. But, my nerves were put aside quickly when I saw that she had a great attention to detail. My hair had been damaged from box color, and she went out of her way to make sure my color looked great and didn't further damage my hair. She even got advice from the more ""seasoned"" ladies in the salon, and they truly made me feel like they wanted the best for me. Kristi also gave me a GREAT haircut that I'm sure I'll keep for a while. The only negative I can think of was that I was at the salon a little longer than I had planned (I was there for 5 hours!) But, I really didn't mind because Kristi was working with my mess of hair and made it look great. Also, she kept me 2 hrs past closing, which shows that she really cared about the quality of my color and haircut. The price was a little more than I was used to paying, but I used to frequent those ""$10 no waiting"" places. You get what you pay for, and I definitely got quality work on my hair. Go see Kristi - she's new, but she's great!!! I got the most wonderful haircut and style from Connie. She has a great personality and she let me eat suckers the whole time. I did have more fun when she was next to Jamie they were real funny. I came here to say I found these guys on City Search and I came back to add my comments to all the raves! I saw the bad attitude from the unhappy one from Ashland City & want to say, I came a long way to try these people and I had a ""Promo"" which means I never paid Gail""s a dime only the people selling the ""Promo"" got money and I got a lot for my little money that I spent! John hs been my stylist and he is \r ""the bomb"" He has been the very best colorist I have ever had and the drive from Brentwood is so worth it! All the stylist were so very friendly, and in just moments, you are part of the ""Family"" that works there! I can not believe the person from Ashland City could have had this experience, something else must not have angered her! John will forever be my hero. Pros: Awesome, the way you it should be in all salons! Cons: none none none more

My son purchased a gift certificate for their ""spa"" services. I arrived for my appointment and was very disappointed - they should not advertise their services as ""spa-like"" -- equipment was laying on the floor, staff was initially unfriendly and became even more so when they learned that I had a ""gift certificate"". I was constantly referred to as the ""comp"" customer (I supposed rather than a ""paying"" customer). These services had been pre-paid -- I was not a comp customer. Very embarassing and humiliating. My son paid very good, hard earned money for this ""gift"" and due to the way I was treated by the staff, I could not make myself go back to receive the remaining services. I felt like I was treated very badly for two reasons - I had the certificate and they already had their money and had no real motivation to do a good job (the hair cut I received was no better than what I could have received at the Wal-Mart beauty shop). The stylist acted as though she was scared to touch my hair and once she found out that I lived in Ashland City and more than likely would not be a returning customer, she had no interest in discussing further services. She spent maybe 30 minutes with me and acted as though she had done me a tremendous service. I feel like the gift certificate was a total rip off, again since they had already received their money for the services, they weren't interested in whether or not I received good service. I just recently found out there was a place to write a review for Gail's hair house, so I knew I just HAD to write one....Jaime has been doing my hair for probably ten years or more. Not only does she do an AWESOME job, it is so much fun to just sit in her chair and cut up with her. She will tell you like it is, if she thinks the cut you want won't look good on you, she'll let you know, and if you still want it cut that way, she'll do it. Today I brought in a celebrity hair style picture and had her cut and highlight my hair and I swear my hair looked better than the picture I brought in! I love Jamie to death and would definitly recommend her to anyone!! Trust me..TEN YEARS or more and I wouldn't go anywhere else! Pros: You'll never be dissatisfied! Cons: NONE!! more

Having recently located to Tennesee, and needing a stylist, my duaghter heard about the ""Up Do Queen"" at Gails from her high school friends and we went to see Debi. We were blown away with the freindliness, professional attitude of the ladies employed there, but far and away, most satisfied by the beautiful job Debi did for us. This lady is a first class artist (with two new permanent clients). She is charming and made my daughter very comfortable (she was scared to death before going in and changing styles).\r \r Gails is a most professional salon with a good mix of mature educated professionals and hard working young ladies learning the business from Gail and her girls. \r \r Remember to excercise your laughing muscles before you get there\r \r This is a fun place to go to just for a spray tan if your having a yucky day. . Best of all these ladies are a constant laugh!\r \r I think tt says allot when a lady and her 4 duaghters work together so professionally yet yet enjoy each other so muuch that the fun is contageous..I was very impressed that even though Debi had stiches in her hand she did not have to ask others to assist her. A friend of mine told me Debi does hair extensions, and I am very thankful she did. I had to drive 60 miles to see her but it was worth the trip. The salon is a fun place to be and Debi gave me a free consultation and took the time to answer all my questions, we discussed which type of extensions would work best for me. She picked out 3 different colors that were just shades apart but were all colors in my hair (I never noticed there was more than 1). She ordered the hair in colors just for my hair and had it in about 4 days she said she could do a next day delivery but because of the drive I decided I could wait. Wow!!!! I love my new hair, it looks so natural and thick. I feel great about my new look and my visit was a lot of fun. Most places you go has an uptight tension about it, but not Gail's it makes you feel very welcome not like you are a stranger but more like a long time friend, thank you Gail for such a great place to go. WELL I HAVE TO GIVE GAILS HAIR HOUSE THIS RATING BECAUSE THIS IS HOW I FOUND MY NEW HAIRDRESSER. CITY SEARCH IS THE WAY TO FIND ALL YOUR NEEDS... I WENT TO GAILS HAIR HOUSE I JUST WALKED IN AND WAS GREETED BY EVERYONE IN THE PLACE THEY ARE THE FRIENDLIEST/CRAZIEST PEOPLE I HAVE EVER MET GAIL IS THE OWNER AND HAS LIKE THREE OR FOUR DAUGHTERS WORKING THERE WITH HER . JAIME DID MY HILIGHTS AND GAVE ME A NEW HAIR STYLE AND WAXED MY EYEBROWS WHICH I HAVE NEVER HAD DONE BEFORE BUT I WILL CONTINUE TO KEEP THEM UP AS SHE INSISTED I FEEL I HAVE FOUND MY NEW FAMILY I MOVED HERE FROM ATLANTA AND JAIME IS FROM SAVANNAH I GUESS MAYBE ITS A SOUTHERN THING WHO KNOWS GAILS IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
