Our hotel recommended Evergreen and we had a wonderful experience! Spent a week at HHI and took our dog and cats - our cats are very close to one another - so they put them in one big suite so they could be together. Our dog loved the attention they gave her and we picked her up freshly bathed and happy! We plan to board our pets with them on our future trips. Excellent! more

New to boarding 3/29/2011

For the first time as we vacationed at HHI, we were bringing our 6 yr old German Shepherd with us. We found Evergreen on the web, talked to them over the phone, and decided to board our dog with them. Upon arrival, we began to see we had made the correct decision. For 7 days they took great care of our dog. We took him out daily for about 2-3 hours and when we returned him they made sure he had food and water. Grooming done the last day for the trip home was great. In future trips to HHI with dogs, we will use only Evergreen. Full recommendation!!!! more

Excellent care and services 12/12/2010

For ten years we have vacationed in HHI. Our lab has stayed there since he was a puppy. Now, at 10, he still loves to come down and stay several times a year for a week or two at the kennel. Jonathan and his staff always exceed our expectations. We take our lab out daily for a beach run and return him in an hour or so - he can't wait to see the staff at Evergreen !! There is no kennel comparable to them - they love the pets, know their habits, and are very loving and caring . Hilton Head Island is lucky to have such a kennel - we recommend them to everyone we meet . more

What a Great Place for a Pooch 3/4/2010

We are visitors to Hilton Head and wanted to find a safe place for our wheaten terrier to enjoy a day of doggie daycare. We found Evergreen on the internet and read all the reviews...\r We stopped by a couple of days before leaving him and found a great staff of caring dog lovers. We wanted him groomed while we were gone for the day,so had a chance to meet with the groomer..and warned her about our Kujo boy on the table. We talked with the front desk staff about leaving him for a day and felt very, very comfortable with all of them\r Today, we dropped him at 8:30 and picked him up around 5pm...A very happy and beautifully groomed boy strutted out from in back... looking great and having had a great day.\r What a wonderful feeling.. So,thanks to all of you!!! we will sing your praises to all our traveling friends... \r Sue & John Henry\r New Hampshire Travelers Pros: Caring Staff Cons: None more

""a 10+"" 10/12/2009

The management and entire staff at Evergreen showed great affection and wonderful care to my beloved yellow lab, ""Daisy"", not only through her young, playful years, but also through her senior adult life. ""Daisy"" was stricken with bone cancer at age 12 and I can't begin to describe the excellent care that was afforded her, (including detailed administering of medications, special diet and an abundance of individual attention and love.) I received daily reports while I was away and could trust that ""Daisy"" was being cared for just as well as if she had been at home. When I picked her up after being away for 8 days, she was in very good shape considering her cancer; in fact she walked better than she did when I left her there.\r ""Daisy'"" is pain free now and running like a puppy again at ""Rainbow's Bridge"". Thank you Evergreen Pet Lodge for always being ""Daisy's"" home away from home. Pros: Great staff - great facility - lots of ""TLC"" more

Do NOT take your senior dog to Evergreen!! 8/19/2009

Two weeks ago, my mom took our 14-year-old dog to board in a “luxury suite” at Evergreen for what she anticipated would be a 10-day stay while she visited my brother and I in California. Now our much loved boy is gone and we desperately wish we could turn back the clock and NOT TAKE HIM TO EVERGREEN as I am confident he would still be alive if we had not taken him there. Although Jake was not in perfect health, he certainly was not near death when my mom dropped him off at Evergreen – he hopped out of the car on his own when my mom arrived there. Fast forward to 6 days later: My mom cuts her trip short, we take a red eye back to HHI and head directly to the vet’s office where Jake is laying in the corner of an exam room extremely underweight (it looked as though he lost 10 lbs over the course of the week), with multiple open wounds (horrible bed sores) and is unable to walk on his own. I cringe to think that Jake may have spent his final hours in that very spot had I not been able to fly back with my mom and help her get him home. That evening, one of the wonderful vets came to our house and put Jake to sleep as it was clear “that moment” had come when it would be selfish to keep Jake here with us.\r \r I will assume that Evergreen did not intentionally neglect Jake but it was quite evident to me that he did not receive the care he needed and should have received while boarding at Evergreen – and I am well aware of the type of care dogs should receive while boarding at a place such as Evergreen considering I worked at a cage free daycare and boarding facility for over a year in California. No dog EVER would have left our facility in the condition Jake was in by the time Evergreen finally got around to contacting my mom and taking him to the vet’s office. Jonathan has provided plenty of excuses ranging from Jake being “too old to handle it” (then why on Earth did they agree to board him in the first place?), Evergreen doesn’t contact owners about “every little thing,” to the fact that Jonathan was not at Evergreen on Wednesday and, therefore, he called my mom when he arrived Thursday morning. We will never know exactly what happened but, according to Evergreen, Jake was “resistant to going out” on Tuesday…this would certainly lead one to believe that Jake lay in his room immobile, peeing and pooping on himself and developing bed sores for close to 2 days. With the vet’s office next door to Evergreen, I will never understand why Jake was not taken to the vet and my mother not contacted sooner. \r \r We will never be able to turn back the clock and get Jake back but, hopefully, sharing our painful story will prevent someone else from making the same mistake we did…if you are thinking about boarding your senior dog at Evergreen, please hire a pet sitter instead! (I believe you can find pet sitters at PetPals HHI.)\r more

Your Pet Will Love It Here 5/16/2009

I was so afraid to leave my 5month old baby yorkie, but I had to, so I found Evergreen Pet Lodge and stayed outside and asked people about it as they came out. All had great things to say. Then I went in and asked for a tour. It was so cute and clean and everyone was so friendly. I left my baby for 4 nights but I was also allowed to pick her up during the day and take her out to play and love and bring her back at night..it is the best place for your pet...they won't come out all nervous but just happy because of the calm staff. A++ for a wonderful experience. I will use no other when I am at Hilton Head Island. Many puppy kisses from Lucy!!!! Pros: Caring Staff, Very Clean more

Clean and Caring 3/15/2008

I have three dogs and was recently delayed a week picking them up from Evergreen due to a death in my family. Although I had used Evergreen before and was comfortable with their cleanliness and care they really went above and beyond to assure me that my ""kids"" would be taken care of and need not be a concern to me at that point. They took extra time to call and give me updates so that I would not be worried and even threw in a complimentary bath and a late pick up for me. I will never use anyone else. Pros: employees sincerely enjoy pets, clean, professional, dependable more
